Re: 4.0 Earthquake, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
It is not the size that is unusual. It is the frequency of quakes, esp small ones, all over the ring of fire including California. For last several days. Check the EQ graphics on the boards. It continues.

Re: 4.0 Earthquake, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Just NOW had a pair of 3.4's on the San Andreas, east of Salinas, which is up at what is considered the northern edge of the predicted rupture zone.

spock

No, the 4.0 earlier wasn't a foreshock because it was on a different fault line. And, these new ones just now aren't either.

And no, stress isn't relieved by smaller quakes, that's an old wives tale to keep the children (like some of you) calm.

Look, it's not that CA doesn't get small Earthquakes ... it's just that these are showing up ON the San Andreas, which IS news. And, the number of this 3's and 4's IS on the increase ... we're seeing a lot of stress fracturing on all the associated fault lines, very similar to what happened before the 1906 SF Earthquake.

SO, all I'm saying it's coming. Maybe next week, maybe in 9 months.

Get ready.

good observation. but you know what, whether it's tomorrow or 10 months, nobody will get ready, no matter what signs have been given. if people do listen, we won't have so many victims after each disaster.

When the San Andreas finally goes it will rip from the Salton Sea all the way to King City. It will be about an 8.0 (no, not a mega quake). But, King City is about, what, a hundred miles from Monterey? Yeah, good luck with that. We're getting nuked just like LA. It'll feel like a 7+ and last over 60 seconds. The worse part is the power will go off and it won't EVER come back on.

If you want to live, you will need to start planning to get out as soon as it happens. Before the madness starts.

I'm in Santa Cruz, so I'm not playing any armchair wisdom from afar. I have my bug-out bag ready. And anyone south of the Golden Gate should too.

Historically, the San Andreas has cut loose in the early months of the year, January thru April. Will it keep that pattern? Yeah ... probably.

Good luck.

By the way, another 3.8 hit this morning near Hurst Castle. No fault line, just out in the hills.

Crazy.

Had a dream last night...No...no stupid prophecy dream.

Just a crazy realistic dream 8.0 in Bay Area. Building came down around me. I was lucky and got out. And turned out my family was safe.

Long story short...the vividness of the dream was incredible. Like watching on imax. Havent had one that realistic in a long time.

Also i think these 4.0 earthquakes are pretty normal no?

Sorry, not normal. 73 earthquakes above 2.5 in the last thirty days, with 24 over 3.0.

What about that huge Sulfur off-gassing in Sept. down at the Salton Sea? Or the earthquake swarm of thousands in August? Or how about that 6.3 off the coast on the Dec. 14th? Or the 6.0 on the San Andreas near King City last month?

Sorry. The pot is bubbling. We have to deal with it.

Now THAT I completely agree with and is not normal!

The semi- isolated 4.0 in of itself is not abnormal.

But your argument is exactly on target!

Another 3.6 this morning 12/26 right ON the San Andreas, midway down the fault line, SW of Coalinga, CA.

The number of 3+ quakes on the San Andreas continues to climb.
