did you use reflective wrapping paper? My dog goes nuts for anything reflective.. I had to take down the hanging crystal in my window because the dog was scratching the wall...

I have a 3 year old greyhound. She has only been a part of the family since July when we rescued her.

I have had my tree up for about 2 1/2 weeks.

She has decided that when she wants to go out, get attention or be fed to go rip a piece of the tree off. She is a pain in the ass.

Needless to say, at this point, my tree almost resembles Charlie Browns.

You and your dog didn't happen to watch the movie Gremlins recently, did you? Perhaps the dog remembered the Christmas tree scene.

Anyway, you might want to nip that kind of behavior in the bud. If you took the tree down simply because you don't like the tree idea, then fine. However, if you did it because the dog was barking and growling at it, and they wouldn't stop even after you told them to be quite, then the dog does not recognize your authority in the home. That could grow into a huge problem down the road.

Or maybe there was a Gremlin in your tree.

In any event, Happy Holidays!

The Book of Jeremiah
Chapter 10

1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
1 But these took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt,
42 That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land.
43 And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river.
44 For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over.
45 For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth.
46 Then dwelt they there until the latter time; and now when they shall begin to come,

Well the fact that this is your Dogs first Xmas...makes sense. There's not wrapped boxes around any trees he sees outside or on walks. He just didn't think they belonged there.
And as far as seeing an Eagle Flying over the top of you guys on your walk....Thats signifies something good, That was probably your Mom!!
I would feel blessed if that were me!

Re: My dog went apeshit when i put the presents under the Christmas tree...
The tree - as much as i didn't want to erect one - has been up for two weeks. Today i finalized my Christmas shopping and wrapping of all that was purchased (which wasn't much, i tell ya. 8 whole boxes). I piled the presents under the tree and my dog started barking and growling and looking at the tree (not below where the presents were) and wouldn't let up. Even when treats were offered and walks outside, he wouldn't stop staring at the tree and growling/barking.

finally, i had to take down the whole tree and put the wrapped presents in a closet.

weird....

of course, this is his first Christmas.
And, i am not a big fan of Christmas trees, etc, anyway.
but, for my kids i relent.

i lost my mother a couple months ago.
i wonder if she's haunting us?

i mean he was staring at the middle of the tree as soon as i put the gifts under it. it wasn't the boxes under, it was the fact that the tree was different.

Have you ever anointed your home with olive oil? If you are having weird scat happing then I highly recommend doing that.

Pretty easy to do:
Get some Olive oil. Get on your knees and pray over it and ask God to use it to protect you, family and home. Walk around dabbing a little on all the door posts in your home and family members and yourself - Do it in the Name of Jesus and be sure to offer up thanks for His protecting Power over your home and your family.

Signs that demons are missin' with ya (these are from my own personal experiences, (your mileage may very):

Weird and unexplained smells.
Stuff falling off shelves in the middle of the night -Happens more than a few times in a year.
Bad/disturbing dreams or the inability to stay sleeping throughout the night.
Animals acting weird.
Odd sensations like someone/something touched you.
Feelings of uneasiness.

One more thing (word to the wise, here:) Our kids are all grown up now but when they were very young, we somewhat (not too much) promoted the belief in Satan Claus. If I had it back, I would have never done that. Something happened to them when they found out that santa was all made up... it crushed their simple, child-like faith in Christ and they both struggle with that to this day and they're now in their 20's and living away from home.
