I agree with the other poster that doggies can sometimes be sensitive to bad angels hanging around. IMO do not be shy if you have any incling one is hanging around to send it back to the pit in Christs name. Even if in company of others a low firm voice is enough to get the job done so long as its audible for the shitbird to hear you.

Sometimes they are a little persistent and when they don't like to scoot immediately I'll back up and talk directly to our Father and sincerely repent for any and all sins in Christ's name since the last time I've repented. Then go back and send it home in Christs name.. Don't be shy even if you only suspect.

The verse the other poster mentioned I feel has to do with crafted idols in general and not specifically Christmas trees. As long as we don't let anything stand between us and our Father it's not an idol. Just don't worship the damn thing. People worship money and jobs more frequently than trees but take that for what its worth. Also consider our Father in his Work likens Himself to a grand fir tree and Satan attempts to copy but is just a plain old box ceder.

If your dog did actually pick up on a shitbird then that bad angel was probably just trying to play on your guilt for having put up a tree for the kids. Kick it's ass in Christ's name next time and don't be shy about it.

the moment the tree was put away he calmed down

A Christmas tree is shaped a little like a huge animal or person, and that may have spooked him. If he is a smart dog he may be trying to figure it out and when he has no reference, it makes him anxious. Maybe next year will be better.

the tree was up for almost three weeks.
he didn't growl at it until the packages went under it.
and he wasn't looking at the pkgs, he was looking toward the top of the tree

Sorry to hear of your mother's passing. At first I was going to reply with "Scooby-Snacks?" (in good humor). Reading your post and hearing that the puppy was staring up at the center of the Tree I can see your concerns; However, I do not think your Mother would be haunting you.
Perhaps she is participating or sending a message? Really it could be both. Meaning, she maybe letting you know she loves the memories of Christmas past but trees are a deception? Either way I am sure she is not mad at you, rather very proud of her family.
Take some quite time sipping on some warm beverage in deep thought reflecting, if you think its a good idea.

I have seen the same thing happen more then once. Once with my own dog. Totally fine with tree, lights and all. Even enjoying the relaxing mood the lights create. Then getting very upset when presents were placed under it (them) and not because they were laying down in that region prior to the presents being placed there.

yes i was surprised! everyone asks me what breed he is and nobody has heard of the Landseer.

his markings are dark gray and black. no brown.

They put those GPS strips in paper money, maybe the money under the tree is giving off some sort of electromagnetic vibes that the dog can see/feel or hear.

Maybe 'they' turn on the money via the GPS strip, and it makes us irritable and crazy. Your dog senses it, maybe.

I have run into this before.

The tree was most likely cut down from some sort of haunted burial ground.

It absorbed any dark spirits and energy, and the presence of the gifts under it is causing the spirit in the tree to escape.

Your dog was able to see the spirit emerge from the tree.

Burn the tree. Always know where your trees come from.

it was a weird day. i had some anxiety. then early in the morning i see this bluish white meteor shoot across the sky, fairly low. then later on two coyotes in the field behind my house while i was walking the dog, then a huge eagle flew over. i don't know why, but i had weird mojo all day.

no - but my cats, who typically can't stay away from the tree - are avoiding it. Also - since I brought the tree into the house - they have been acting lethargic, depressed.

I am with you this year Salt - not really into the tree ritual - just hatin the whole Christmas charade - but like you, for the kids, I relented. Also like you, I put the tree up a couple weeks ago - BUT, when I brought it into the house, it FELT strange. I can't explain it - just gave me the creeps. In contrast, in years gone by, the fresh smell of pine was nice, I like the soft lights when it was done being decorated - but this year, it just "felt" creepy.

So - I prayed over it. The next morning - things felt more "normal" less creepy . . .or maybe the word I am reaching for is "peaceful," but at any rate - try praying over your tree - I know this sounds nuts - but considering the days we live in, I don't take ANYTHING for granted.

I too have been seeing strange flashes in the sky - all manner of streaks, flashes, etc. The way I deal with it?

I try not to look, lol.

This kind of thing also gives me the creeps - the Word does say that in the last days that there will be signs in the heavens, etc - so, I fight back by an absolute refusal to fear - and have found the only way I can do this is by trusting in the Lord.

Cool, its a little hard to tell fur color from the pic, My old boyfriend and I had a Newfoundland so we ran across a couple of Landseer's in our day.

That's what I was thinking, or the money just had some scent on it he didn't like.

Obviously there was a rabbit or squirrel or something the coyotes smelled and the eagle saw.
