Hahahaha User ID: 28872856 United States 12/22/2012 08:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My love of equines almost had me moving to Canada! But it didn't work out. He had a Percheron. One hoof was the size of a small skillet!! I really miss riding and hope to buy my own horse in a couple of years, after graduation. IF that's doable. The way things are looking, I'm not very optimistic. OK, you guys -- lessee some photos of your mighty steeds! :0 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 26218792 United States 12/22/2012 08:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry i am very serious. There was a man a few years back-in virgina -usa- that used it --HERE this was a serious question. """“Buck” — a documentary about the real-life “horse whisperer” and the cowboy trainer Dan (Buck) Brannaman — has been generating some buzz since its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won the Audience Award for its first-time director, Cindy Meehl. A sympathetic portrait of the cowboy as teacher, trainer and therapist, Meehl’s film documents Brannaman’s life as he travels around the country, teaching clinics for people with horse problems and — more often, as Brannaman puts it — “horses with people problems.” Handsome and articulate, Brannaman, now in his late 40s, was a key resource and inspiration to the author Nicholas Evans for the title character in Evans’s 1995 novel, “The Horse Whisperer.” He also served as a consultant and technical adviser for the production of the 1998 film based on the book that was directed by and starred Robert Redford. (Redford also appears in the documentary, describing his first meeting with Brannaman in Hollywood and the contribution he made to the making of the film.) Using a simple formula of understanding, compassion and respect, Brannaman tries to help humans understand the language of horses so they can build a solid, rewarding relationship and learn to “dance” as horse-and-rider partners. “Everything you do with a horse is a dance,” Brannaman says.............These “new age” methods, like Brannaman’s, were once regarded with suspicion by horsemen as little more than “fringe” approaches to training horses with questionable merit, but they have gained traction and increasing acceptance in recent years in many horse sports, including racing. |

They have it with horses for specific task. Like a old friend told me - all depend what you want to do with the horse. If one very good trainer will have your horse do the spanish walk in 2 days and you, what you do with him (horse) is trekking what's the point. A good horse-head person, is good to train a horse to what he is good at. I don't judge that. |

I reread my post and LMAS I guess it could be misconstrued wrong. So much I want to CLARIFY. My mini horse is cart trained and my mini donkey is his companion. They are both geldings and No Way as you are implying. I cannot ride my trail horse anymore due to a severe accident 2 yrs ago in which I was injured so bad I was left with with multiple surgeries with titanium plates in me. As of right now I just had those plates removed a few days ago and am recuperating over the holididays. I was replying to the legitimate posters talking about horses and not the sickos. But thank you because I would rather take the time to clarify my post then have somebody twist it the wrong way.If anything a lesson learned, don't post while on pain medication. Just being in the moment. :) |

Yes, that is a process I use on dogs and cats when they need to perk up: I slowly extend a finger and as soon as they look or move I pretend to retract it as if I am being at effect of their cause. This, done repeatedly, gives most of them a renewed sense of being at cause, brings them out of apathy, if that is their case. If you can't tell, I work as a psychotherapist -- for entertainment purposes only :-) |
