Quoting: Lies & Alibis Unlike piezoluminescence, the material emits light when it is broken, not deformed. This effect is not fully understood by our current conceptual models of science but it is thought that upon fracture of asymmetrical materials, there is a separation and reunification of electrical charge. When the charges recombine the electric discharge ionizes the surrounding air and causes a flash of light. The observation of Triboluminescence in a mercury filled barometer led to the discovery of the Barometric light which while investigating researchers discovered that static electricity could cause low-pressure air to glow, which revealed the possibility of electric lightening!!! so cool! Very cool! Fracture of asymmetrical materials, eh? Got an example in mind OP? |

The process of triboluminescence - The breaking of the structure (in video of EuD4TEA) causes charge separation, which releases energy upon recombination, the energy interacts with near by atoms, in this case europium, and is released as light according to ionization and fluorescent spectra. |

Crystal bonds are broken along planes with opposing charge. There are a lot of fundamental applications for these properties (understanding of and integration) to everything, from physics to biology… One potential 21st century application of triboluminscent materials might be smart sensors. They could be embedded in various composite host structures. When damage occurs to the host composite structure it will lead to fracture of the TBL crystal – leading to light emission. Potentially providing a real-time warning that structural damage has occurred. | Lies & Alibis (OP) User ID: 26237455 12/23/2012 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With our sight our two eyeballs our visual intake, a no contact sense, we have no actual physical contact with what is being sensed – the light. This does not mean, however, that there is no physical medium being used to get the information to the senses. The universe's fundamental basis is variation of information applied to energy. Sensory input is mediated by the cross-talk between visual spectrum detectors – the eyes and the piezoluminescent pineal gland. These are biological force sensing systems. Two eyes (physical visual light spectrum) vs. Inner eye = Destructive Interference Two Eyes (physical visual light spectrum) + (synergistic mediation of forces) Inner Eye (piezoluminescent pineal gland) = Constructive interference, here the fractal structure of the universe reveals itself. The 3rd eye has been tuned to a new spectrum that you can now perceive. Letting in more light allows one to see beyond the veil. You have just rubbed light. |

These can be found in our orbital space around the Sun. What has never been witness however is a destruction of one, whether the demise of an lagrangian point would cause a release of energetic light is unknown. |
