OMG Giant Halo surrounding the moon!!!

Greetings everyone,
This is my first post. I joined just to comment on this.
1. I have NEVER seen a ring like this.
2. It's awe-inspiring and just doesn't feel "right".
3. What are the odds that this (of this magnitude) would happen between the 21st & 23rd?!?!
Of course "rings around the moon" happen, but this felt/looked different. Is something going on we don't yet understand?
Could this be connected to the "serpent rope" the Maya spoke of?
Logic says the Maya are talking about a gateway/wormhole opening now. And NO I'm not suggesting this ring is that but...
Looking from Louisiana, I first saw it at 7pm 12-22-12
Now, it's faded

I am in NW Ark and saw the big halo this evening while I was out for a walk and it was huge. This was at approximately 8:15 pm CST. Even my wife commented about it and she usually never notices anything. ;)

It's a moon ring just search it on google for pictures.

The point they are getting at is that its massive. Not the usaual size. Not all people are dumbasses you know ;)

i like your pandas and stuff but...if it was a regular ring, people would have debunked it but enough people are jumping in to freak over it it bears a FUCKING PICTURE wouldn't you say?

When it comes to GLP everything is unusual so I'm gonna believe that its just a big moonring and nothing more. I've seen some massive ones.

This has happened a lot this year, though I have never seen them before, I saw at least three this year. They are ice crystals. Very cool.

Its GLP of course they're going to freakout and blow it out of proportion. Ive seen moonrings where i could fit 15 moons across. It depends on the elevation of the ice crystals. Its nothing to freak out about.

No disrespect, but if you keep calling it a "moon ring", then you didnt see what we saw. This is something that can only be described as MASSIVE. It was breath-taking. I really thought something was about to come through it. Like a "door" had opened.

The size of the moon ring has to do with the elevation of the ice crystals. It's still a moon ring.

I noticed this at 8 when we left our town to go into the city, I dropped some people off did my erronds and noticed at the last stop there was still the huge ring.. We picked up my people and came back to the town, and I still noticed it. I know its usually caused by clouds etc, but this was a 45 mile differance, odd that other in other states are seeing it.. IMHO anyway. Btw im in south cental KS. 67114 area.

Also, tried to video cam it with the iPad, but it would not pic up the ring.

In Memphis .. just remarked to my girlfriend as to how large it seems to be then I told her snow soon! Beautiful huge ring!

As a side note... gas up the ginny! We could see a repeat of 1994 ice storm.

Same view from Springdale, Arkansas. My husband was getting ready to leave for work and he told me to come look at the giant halo. It's the largest one we've seen also and I've lived in Arkansas all my life.

It happens periodically and is a natural weather phenomena.

22° halo is light refracted through ice crystals or water droplets. Still super cool, maybe its a sign from mother nature. Halos have so much intrinsically attached to the symbol. I'm sure a past civilization reacted similarly to this thread. I wonder if it does have any relation to impending bad weather brewing.

Last thing I'm gonna say...
This ring was WAY too big, WAY too perfectly round, and WAY too on the weekend OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR!
But yeah, there's a 99% chance that it's normal.
BTW, it's only 53°F on the ground here...
