The events in the land today still fall under what was started in 70AD as part of a prophecy. That prophecy was not an exile for wrongdoing, the scattering was to spread the word of God as defined on both Testaments. God doesn't bring them back home until the Gentiles have been judged according to the events in Re:16 and when that gathering takes place it is everybody in all the nations and a resurrection of everybody from the 12 Tribes going back to Abraham. (Eze:37)
And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations,
and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen,
whither the LORD shall lead you.
And there ye shall serve gods,
the work of men's hands,
wood and stone,
which neither see,
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God,
thou shalt find him,
if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
When thou art in tribulation,
and all these things are come upon thee,
even in the latter days,
if thou turn to the LORD thy God,
and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;)
he will not forsake thee,
neither destroy thee,
nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword,
and shall be led away captive into all nations:
and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles,
until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
But the court which is without the temple leave out,
and measure it not;
for it is given unto the Gentiles:
and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
(the ones that fell in that time were ones that would not have heeded the warning in the previous verses so that would have only been the Jews with the attitude of those in the Temple in Matthew 23)
Teaching Gentiles about God while in the Nations was to continue until the 7th trump and the 7 vials that come with that event, then with all sinners dead it is safe to go there as Christ will physically be seated on a physical throne on the physical location of the holy ground. If you don't get that part you need to do some more reading.
And when they entered unto the heathen,
whither they went,
they profaned my holy name,
when they said to them,
These are the people of the LORD,
and are gone forth out of his land.
But I had pity for mine holy name,
which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel,
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
I do not this for your sakes,
O house of Israel,
but for mine holy name's sake,
which ye have profaned among the heathen,
whither ye went.
And I will sanctify my great name,
which was profaned among the heathen,
which ye have profaned in the midst of them;
and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD,
saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
