If there were 8 days in a week.

You would have 1 extra day off work.

5/7 = 71.43% of a 7 day week.
5/8 = 62.50% of a 8 day week.

You would work 8.93% less.
71.43 - 62.50 = 8.93

There would be 45.625 weeks in a year.
365/8 = 45.625

There would be an extra 5 or 6 days (depending on a leap year) in every year.
100/8 = 12.5
5 days * 12.5 = 62.5 (see 42.625).
6 days * 12.5 = 75.0.

So after all this math, (I hope you understood it). I ask you, who decided 7 days a week?

365/7 = 52.14285714285714
365/8 = 45.625 (and the decimal place is in perfect 8th's, a multiple of .125)

And for those concerned about leap year. lets assume 365.25

365.25 / 8 = 45.62625
365.25 / 7 = 52.17857142857143




So I suggest an 8 day week, with a 3 day weekend. This will solve all of societies ill's. We work too hard, too much, and 2 days separation between work and rest is not enough. 3 days out of 8 is a much more reasonable request for human beings.

As soon as we all slow down, and take a deep breath, and focus on things other than work and money, we will find that 1 extra day will make all the difference.
