Not bad for the same latitude which in Siberia is currently at -40'c. People underestimate just how influential the Atlantic can be in winter. |

The Environment Agency has issued around 190 warnings, meaning flooding is expected and immediate action is required. There are also more than 300 alerts where flooding is possible, and one severe warning remains active at Helston in Cornwall - meaning there is a danger to life. Many residents in the South West face Christmas with floodwater in their homes Cornwall has been particularly badly hit. The streets of Lostwithiel are under water and residents are bracing themselves for further flooding. [link to news.sky.com] Damn... Hoping the rain slacks off for ya UKer's! Looks like travel is being impacted... So those of you that are getting ready to travel into flood hit areas stay safe! Those of you who live in the areas flooding... stay safe and dry and I'm sending prayers and positive vibes your way! Thanks Dr Acula. Its nice that there are people looking out for others, in other Countries. We will get through this but I feel sorry for the children who might not be able to wake up in their own rooms on christmas day because of the floods. I guess they might see it all as an adventure perhaps. Blessings to you, and you have yourself a merry christmas! |

More rain for later this afternoon into tonight before making way for heavy showers on Xmas eve. Its quite something to be outside in a t-shirt and light rain-mac and not feel the slightest bit cold, considering the UK is on the same latitude as Alaska, Siberia, and Canada. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30709020 Portugal 12/23/2012 01:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Storm Forecast Valid: Sun 23 Dec 2012 06:00 to Mon 24 Dec 2012 06:00 UTC Issued: Sun 23 Dec 2012 05:13 Forecaster: VAN DER VELDE A level 1 was issued for the south coast of Turkey for a chance of waterspout type tornadoes. SYNOPSIS A very calm day with deep convection only possible near low pressure areas situated over the Atlantic and between Crete and Turkey. Warmer air over western Europe is gaining terrain over the cold mass of air dominating northern and eastern Europe. The warm front starts invading Germany and should reach eastern Poland by the end of the period, while also Italy and the Balkan starting to warm up steadily. During the night new convection with isolated thunder is possible as cold unstable air reaches western Ireland. DISCUSSION ...Crete to southern Turkey... A stationary low with very weak flow in low to mid levels and a few hundred J/kg CAPE and nearly saturated profiles provide good conditions for formation of waterspouts, particularly in the vorticity and convergence zones provided by the low pressure center.
