Christmas weather storm updates: 6 deaths,40+homes damaged with "numerous injuries !!!

Since 1875, Little Rock has only seen accumulating snow three times on Christmas; Tuesday evening will mark a fourth time.

Excuse me BUT use your heads people... you can not predict a tornado ( example -> tornado will drop down out of sky on Thursday of next week ).... a tornado is the most unpredictable thing going.And it can not be seen 2-3 days in advance. Do not listen to the so called weather people instead use your own brain and check weather your self.

So it begins with the winter storm watches being issued. I may be under one within the next day or so. NWS Detroit said part of the CWA could get 6" from this winter storm but they are going with a conservative 3-5 for now.

Well, obviously tornados just don't appear out of thin air. No matter what a few mins can save hundreds of lives especially when given signs of strong incoming storms. Here we get vicious tornados and dramatic ice storms...I can only imagine the combination.

You are right that a few minutes can save lives... totally correct... but at the same time the weather channels go over board also... for example the snow a few days ago... they made it out like OMG! 3 feet of snow is coming our way tonight get out and buy the stores out, be prepared to stay inside for days on end ... etc.... we got 1" of snow and 40 mph winds.... which causes problems yes people should stay off the roads til they are cleaned.... in summary everyone should do their own weather and not just go by what Al Roker and Stephanie "Airheadbrahams" says....prepare for bad weather as you usually do yes, but do not spend 500 bucks on groceries because they tell you to.

MOISTURE INTO THE REGION...AND A COUPLE INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED
OVER THE FOOTHILLS OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST
GEORGIA...AS WELL AS THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA. THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN COULD RESULT IN SOME
LOCALIZED FLOODING.

A COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE REGION WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. A LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP AHEAD OF THE FRONT DEPENDING UPON HOW
UNSTABLE THE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES. IF THE LINE DOES FORM...THERE IS
A GOOD CHANCE THAT SOME OF THE STORMS WILL BE SEVERE.

True weather forecasters can predict storms of varying kinds days and weeks beforehand. They did with Superstorm Sandy. And yes, they can predict tornadoes. Naturally, they can not predict the EXACT spot one will land, but that conditions will be highly favorable for tornado development.

All Louisport is doing is collating the various weather reports from scientific places - not your "Al Rokers". So, your post was warrentless.

Very concerning for sure.Think Christmas Day is suppose to be okay for us but bad weather starts that night and into the next day.
Always hate to see bad weather when so many people are traveling.You just know there will be a lot of wreaks and likely deaths.

tornado chasers know a bit more about it than you do. besides, anyone with half a brain figured out tornado potential early on. just check temps, wind map and active atmospheric rivers.

...and then we have folks who think the way you do and ignore the threat warnings...oops! frankenstorm sandy!

Power is out in East Palo Alto in part of the Gardens neighborhood and west of U.S. Highway 101. Red Cross has set up a shelter at the YMCA.

... Severe storms possible on Christmas day...

A powerful low pressure system will move across northern Mississippi
and Alabama on Christmas day... bringing a strong cold front across the
area. Unseasonably warm... moist and unstable air will be injected from
the Gulf of Mexico into the southeast states ahead of the front. Your
National Weather Service office in Mobile has found that there is a
substantial risk of severe weather in southeast Mississippi... southwest
Alabama... and the western Florida Panhandle on Christmas day.

Latest computer model guidance continues to indicate scattered
strong to severe thunderstorms developing through Christmas morning
and afternoon. There is a risk of these storms producing tornadoes
during the day with some tornadoes possibly strong. In addition... large
hail with these storms is likely.

By late afternoon... a line of thunderstorms will form out west along
the Interstate 59 corridor in Mississippi. The line of thunderstorms
will quickly move east... reaching the Interstate 65 corridor by early
Christmas evening and east of a Brantley/Luverne to Destin line by
midnight. The primary severe weather concern along the squall line
will be damaging straight line winds... large hail... and isolated
tornadoes. The threat of severe weather is expected to end Christmas
night as the strong cold front exits the area.

Stay tuned for further updates on this potentially dangerous weather
situation..
