THERE IS STILL QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE EXACT
TRACK THAT THIS STORM WILL TAKE. FOR EXAMPLE...YESTERDAY THE
MODELS TRENDED FURTHER SOUTH AND EAST WITH ITS TRACK. SO FAR
TODAY...THE OPPOSITE TREND IS SHOWING UP...WITH THERE NOW BEING
SOME INDICATIONS THAT THE STORM TRACK MAY SHIFT A BIT FURTHER
NORTH INTO AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER. AS A
RESULT...WE WILL LEAVE THE FORECAST AS IS...IN AN EFFORT TO
PREVENT A YO YO EFFECT TO THE FORECAST. THIS MEANS THAT
OVERALL...AT LEAST SOME SNOW ACCUMULATION IS STILL EXPECTED.

My Christmas is supposed to be 47 as a high with rain.

But that Christmas eve with a high of 37 with a possibility of rain looks interesting. No snow in the forecast, but they are horrible for when to predict snow for the Willamette Valley.

Scientists say the state should brace for more devastating storms to come

As the Eastern Sierra braces for a big winter storm this weekend, no one here in snow country is complaining about the forecast.

Enjoy it while you can.

Caused by something meteorologists call an “atmospheric river,” warmer, wet storms are predicted to be come more common in the near future, giving the Sierra comparatively more of its moisture in storms that are dominated by rain, not snow.

When conditions are just right, the jet stream picks up moisture from the subtropics, creating an atmospheric river.

Call it what you will -- the Pineapple Express, the Java Jet or the Pacific Fire hose – but it can and does dump rain for hours, even days in Oregon's lower valleys and plaster the mountains with a mantle of snow that lasts until June or beyond.

More immediately, forecasters say, expect cool temperatures with showers into and through the weekend, with even a sun break or two. Christmas Day, which had looked to be dry, now looks to be wet, blustery and cool.

... Severe storms possible on Christmas day...

A powerful low pressure system is expected to move across northern
Mississippi and Alabama on Christmas day... bringing a strong cold
front across the area. Unseasonably warm... moist and unstable air
will surge off the Gulf of Mexico and across the deep south ahead of
the front. Your forecasters at the local National Weather Service
office in Mobile see a substantial severe weather threat being
possible across southeast Mississippi... southwest Alabama and the
western-most areas of the Florida Panhandle on Christmas day.

The latest forecast data continues to suggest scattered strong to
severe thunderstorms will develop across the area through the
morning and afternoon hours on Christmas. There is the potential that
these scattered thunderstorms during the day could produce
tornadoes... some of them possibly strong. In addition... large hail
with these storms will be possible.

By late afternoon... a line of thunderstorms will likely form to the west
along the Interstate 59 corridor in Mississippi. That squall line of
thunderstorms will quickly move eastward to be located along the Interstate
65 corridor by early evening... then east of a Brantley/Luverne to
Destin line by late evening. The primary severe weather threat along
the squall line will be damaging straight line winds... large hail and
isolated tornadoes. The threat of severe weather is expected to end
Christmas night as the strong cold front moves through the area.

Right now it's keeping me from finishing some outside projects. My hay is almost gone and I need to get my fencing up so that the goats can eat their way merrily through acres of goat paradise.
