You are looking at the bigger picture, which those criticizing just the SS program are not.

There is also the fact thathad the government invested our money wisely, it would be way, way over funded. Incorporating SS into the general budget was just one of the many monetary management mistakes our government has made. You have mentioned several others.

It is shallow and one-dimensional to zero in on just the existence of SS without looking at the other dynamic factors. They've made a mess of any fiscal thing they've touched.

Ever figure out how much State and Federal Excise Tax is paid by the SS recipient for a carton of Cigarettes? Do the math sucker. Outside of tax-exempt food, Pensioners pay tax after tax after tax, so the Gov provides the money to pay the tax even. Go figure. Its like some kind of backwards compound interest.. I give you a buck, and then through taxes I take back 33% or 60% or 75%, and I tax the people that worked in the factories and the stories that I buy, they get taxed too, and so does the goods they produce. Tax, tax tax tax tax tax tax tax tax tax tax tax.

Even when I buy 'junk food' which of course gets TAXED.. it makes me pay tax.. so in away your bitching is pointless.. because I am also of these here Tax Payers that People are sucking off of the government handout programs. You do realize that Social Security is a pay as you go system.
What was paid in by the retired went to pay for people drawing benefits back then such as their parents,etc.What is paid in now is what funds the people that is retired and drawing now.
Why do all old people think their money was banked and invested and made a bunch of money that is suppose to support them forever once they retire.Benefits paid at the time is funded by taxes paid in at the time.MOST people receive way more benefits and medical care costs than they ever paid in.

Yes, whenever you see people pushing for something, in this case abolishment of SS, and using emotional appeals as some posters are doing, you can bet coporate/business money and politics, and lobbyists, are involved. That's always the bottom line.

I think that Social Security should only pay back what people have paid in with interest.Once they draw or receive that much medical costs then cut them off.Majority would only draw a couple years at most.

Why arent they cutting into all the Disability claims. I know dozens of people who have applied for disability because they cant find a job. also all the crack heads that are on disability and buy drugs with their money. all the help for unwed mothers who get government cash for their kids, and sit there smoking and running around drunk letting there Mothers take care of there kids. My Mother was the generation that owned their own home, my Dad worked two jobs and died at 72, but this next generation me, I dont own a home and it takes all my check to live. I am paying the same prices as these young kids who think I can save for retirement.

Regardless of which side of this issue you are on, ALL of us will soon be toast.

The plan being hacked out behind the scenes will integrate ALL of the 401ks, IRAs, and other private pensions into one big pie.

Those private funds are the last source of wealth left in the country. Yup, the country is THAT BROKE. All the confiscation of those funds will do is buy a couple more years.

SS as we know it will be phased out by the end of the present president’s term. Regardless of what your status is now, ONLY ONE check will be issued by the gov’t.

What you will receive will be dependent on a “means testing” formula developed by the big-dogs.

AND to put some icing on the cake, don’t forget about the Amnesty Kard.

Right now the number of illegals in the U.S. is pushing 40 million. If anyone doubts that, stop drinking the Kool-Aide.

After the current crop of Illegals are awarded U.S. citizenship, they will be issued SS numbers and begin enjoying all of the miraculous benefits the rest of us can provide for them.

After that, they will be allowed to bring all of their shirt-tail relatives into the country and those will also be absorbed into the social safety net. This is to preserve their “family” values and enhance their sense of citizenship.

So, that’s at least 100 MILLION new happy campers!

And, lets not forget about the people of strong mid-eastern decent the president intends to grant citizenship to. Let your imagination run wild with that one.
