I built a comprehensive BOL and BOV with water, food, power, comms, heat and supplies for years.. Cost me everything I had for the last three years. Do I feel bad? Hell no!

I've got a kick ass place, ready to go totally off grid at any time because it was off grid to start with. I know my family is safe now.. I have done my best and nothing happened... Exactly what I prayed for. Now we have real security going forward. I don't have to work those crazy hours anymore if I choose not to, we have the freedom to travel now as we don't have an outrageous rent note in the city to cover every month. Our neighbors are whitetail deer, not taxicabs and endless stink. We don't drink contaminated water because I know where it comes from, and I am responsible for it's quality control. Now I can take my family on a 6 month rv adventure tour of the US without nagging expenses back at home calling us back just when we begin to enjoy ourselves.

Since I built this place, I find myself with much more free time to play and think, I can work for what we need and keep the rest of the time for my life... not cranking away endlessly to keep the bankers happy. It's the best thing I have ever done and it was a blessing.

Now I will use this blessing that has been given to me for building up my software business and getting our sailboat ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

I for one am incredibly happy there was no doom, we are prepped for anything I could think of and it has prepped us to be in a position to truly enjoy the rest of our lives without fear.

I used the 2012 hysteria to scale down our lives and simplify, we got rid of the fluff and banker trinkets and traded it for the essential. Try it, liberate yourself, exciting life experiences are far more valuable than expensive cars and endless payments.

The future (for us) looks very exciting and I can't wait to get started on phase 2.

Looks to me like you just learned a valuable lesson about the kinds of solutions that you come up with when faced with potential obastacles/challenges in your life.

Well at least you have a clean slate to start over with. Perhaps your familly will be fine with you going back...they are your familly after all.

Besides, the potential scenerios of DOOM are not ever going to go away. The possabilities of economic, political, environemntal,extrasolar, extraterrestrial and personal DOOM still lurk everywhere. Its probably best to stay close to familly or at least get a grip in times like these.
