Ministry Guitarist Mike Scaccia Dies After Onstage Collapse

Mike Scaccia, the guitarist for Ministry and Rigor Mortis, died on Saturday night at the age of 47. Scaccia was performing onstage at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of a 50th birthday celebration for Rigor Mortis singer Bruce Corbitt, when he collapsed. Shortly afterwards, he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Scaccia was born in Babylon, New York, on July 14th, 1965, and formed thrash metallists Rigor Mortis in 1983. Six years later, the guitarist was invited by Al Jourgensen to join Ministry.

Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs is the common title for the fifth studio album by industrial metal band Ministry, released in 1992 on Sire Records. The actual title of the album is (a Greek word meaning "head", and the number 69 in Greek numerals), though Psalm 69 is used for simplicity's sake. The album gave Ministry a more mainstream audience, with the track "Jesus Built My Hotrod" receiving major airplay on MTV and various other music stations.[specify] Psalm 69 also marked Ministry's first release with guitarist Mike Scaccia, who had joined the band in 1989.

The song "N.W.O." (New World Order) features samples of George H. W. Bush and was used in the Ralph Bakshi live-action/animated film Cool World. It is front man Al Jourgensen's critical take on the state of world affairs after the Gulf War and the end of the Cold War and an uncertain future. The title of the album is directly linked to chapter 69 of The Book of Lies, a written work of Aleister Crowley, where he uses the expression "The way to succeed and the way to suck eggs" as a pun for the 69 sex position ("suck seed" and "suck eggs"). Moreover, Crowley titled the chapter , Greek or "head" and or "69" (both slang in English for oral sex - but not the original ancient Greek words) and is used often in the New Testament. There is no direct link to the Old Testament passage Psalm 69.

Since the album's release, Ministry had put multiple references to the number 69 in future albums. For example, the albums Dark Side of the Spoon and Houses of the Molé both had hidden tracks with a track number of 69.

I remember back in the 80s my friend playing a track off a ministry cassette.we were both amateur musicians . I thought it was ok . I was a rush fan so I guess I was sort of a snob to the new wave of thrash metal bands like them and metallica. I don't know I just can't get into that hypnotic droning music. the same notes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I like melody. and since I did it pretty much secured my failure as a musician in the modern era UNLESS I wanted to Country or Christian. I look back at that time and wonder how I could of been such a fucking snobbish moron and realized that the next 20 years in popular heavy music will be bands like ministry megadeth and metallica . I kind of regret not selling out to that sound but seeing how Dimebag and this man died I am kinda glad I didn't . RIP brother I hope you had a great time here cause who knows where he is now .
