i think we were lucky with the 2010 event, because it happened in November, in the last month of autumn, when we still has some warmth of autumn to offset the very cold air that dropped right over us. it was still VERY cold, but not as bad as if it had happened in January, as this one might

Ozone levels
Interesting indeed. Just as a side subject, I noticed a very suspicious increase in the ozone levels along the North-West coast of the US/Vancouver area in Canada. We talk about a sudden increase of 30 to 40% of the ozone levels, this is something very localised and now it is moving along the Canada-US border. I do not understand what could create such increase in ozone, and why so concentrated. Now I guess it is somehow connected with the OP!

I think it would be hard (difficult/cold/etc) virtually anywhere......in cities, maybe more services or help available than in country areas.....however - other resources available in rural areas, such as trees to cut and burn for heat if electric goes out, wild game to eat if supplies lines shut down.

Not sure if related, but California is now getting wave after wave of major rain. Not quite as bad as the Nov storm, but if persistent is going to cause flooding.

You should start a seperate thread about this subject and what you have and put up any links. The Ozone is rarely discussed around here and has an important part to play in all of this. There are so many anomolies right now its good to SEE them all and connect some dots. Please if you would not mind starting the thread. It could pull in some others that are into it and can add other info as it goes along. Just a thought and thanks for throwing that into this.

yes, the polar vortex usualy is circular in shape, but now is a big oval, that's why north and central Asia have so cold temp. in this moment. So polar vortex with this movement is weakening very quikly, going to asia area and retiring from other places like your location
