No offense, but have you sought professional help? 99% of people enjoy Christmas as children, grow up and learn more about the world, including that Santa is just imaginary, and end up enjoying Christmas as an adult, teaching THEIR children about Santa. I'm sorry that for some reason it bothers you. The rest of the world will go on though, and no, Christmas won't stop. |

How about this. You let my kids believe in Santa, and I'll let you believe in your bs religion. Everyone is happy, right? |

And don't forget the idea of giving gifts on Christmas day comes from the much earlier holiday Suturnalia where people had trees and gave gifts on the 25th. So Old st Nick is responsible for that |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 30560657 12/24/2012 05:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Having been a kid who believed in Santa Claus, like most people here, I was temporarily heartbroken to learn there was no Santa. HOWEVER, the years of mystery and enjoyment I got out of it, throughout years of my childhood, more than makes up for it. Yeah, it sucks to learn the truth, but I say it's worth it. Learning the true history of the tradition, and the selflessness of the individual who started the tradition, made me believe in a new, man-made kind of magic that any one of us has the power to create. The world is full of ugly truths and harsh realities. I see nothing wrong with children believing in magic for a while before they turn into bitter cynical adults like us. |

| skyblau User ID: 29793733 12/24/2012 06:18 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My husband and I overheard his daughter (my step daughter) talking about santa claus, and my husband told her "Santa isn't real." She got all pissed off about that. Then I said, "If Santa was real, shouldn't every child in the world get presents? There isn't any such thing as a bad kid. It's only because parents can't afford presents that kids don't get presents for Christmas." Then my two boys tell her, "Yeah, Santa isn't real. Presents come from mom and dad." They are a year and two years older than she is. I never had lied to them about Santa claus. She still was very adhement about santa being real. and my youngest son, told her, " Don't be dumb, he isn't real." That is it in a nutshell. I'll bet her mom is gonna be pissed when she comes home and said we told her Santa isn't real. Why do some parents insist on lying about Santa. I always told my kids, that some parents tell their kids that Santa is real but he isn't. That Santa is based on a guy who gave gifts to poor kids in an orphanage, hundreds of years ago. That is the truth. Always tell your kids the truth. |
