So now I guess the whole "use a moon as a craft" idea isn't so off the chart when NAZA themselves are up for it? What say you? NASA Moon - Mars - Saturn ANOMALIES: [link to www.youtube.com] |

Quoting: watchZEITGEISTnow The money will have to be inside their budget... and their budget is virtually nothing compared to defense spending, the useless war on drugs etc... so I wouldn't sweat too much about the cash if I were you. As for who benefits? Hm... the entire human race does. It's a pretty radical idea but I think it has merit, plus learning how to run down, lasso, hogtie and manipulate asteroids is very useful for mining applications. Nice find. 'Magically Delicious' |

By your "logic" we have already done everything we can possibly do and can never advance any further because if we could... we'd already have done it? @OP, it benefits humanity, you need to think in big picture long term ways. It advances our space exploration and engineering capabilities. We have to take these steps in order to progress to more advanced efforts in space exploration. I wonder are you the kind of person that questions the point of space programs? The list of things that space programs have improved and created and made possible for us back here on Earth is huge, if you don't know please do a little research, you may be surprised. People who say "what benefit would this be?" in regards to space based projects really mean, "how does this benefit me in my lifetime?" It likely won't benefit you or me in our lifetimes directly, but we're talking about the future of our entire species, like I said, think long term, big picture. Maybe your grandkids will be part of a new resource boom on the asteroid mines and strike it rich? The 2020 asteroid rush, space prospectors, private mining ships, the potential is limitless... but it all has to start somewhere and projects like this are the first steps. 'Magically Delicious' |

Look how our economy flourished during this time period, NASA and the companies who produced their tools created so many jobs. I hope this does the same. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27665747 That's a totally separate issue and has nothing to do with this. The point here is to establish a pitstop for Mars missions. The ability to refuel, refit, refresh vessel and crew at the Moon before continuing on to Mars would make things immeasurably easier. After a while a well developed orbital base using resources mined from the asteroid itself could be used to launch missions (instead of being a mere pitstop), construct craft in orbit... which means you are not wasting fuel getting out of Earths gravity, your craft design is not limited by the fact that it has to launch from Earth... that makes a massive difference to the game. This is the kind of project that opens the door to constructing BIG ships... very big ships. 'Magically Delicious' |

However, is this saying something about Earth? Obviously its over crowded, but is it more than that? Are our resources almost gone or is this space cloud were in harmful? Besides, does NASA even have the technology to stablize Mars? They found water on it sure, but the temps are too hot/cold and you'd need some pretty high tech shit to make it suitable for man. If man ever gets there, hopefully the martians won't kick our flag down again |
