The Native peoples of north america are so very different then most of these posts would have you believe. We were warriors yes, but we almost never made war. Our battles were usually small skirmishes over various disputes. The Nations as a whole almost never went to war. Our history as it is taught to most comes from sources who have never met an elder much less had a conversation with one(most clans have accurate oral histories).
I firmly believe our peoples need a cultural awakening. Our elders are still there to teach us the old ways, the old stories. Yet for how much longer? Our peoples should be leaders and exemplars of enviromental stewardship. Imagine if we invested our reservation resources into clean sustainable energy, eco-friendly farming, and clean drinking water. And thats just the begining of what our peoples could do if we remember who we are.
I have alot more to say on this subject, but I dont wish to derail the thread.
