Christmas is worshipped as a materialistic ritual. Kids are excited for christmas why? To be with family and eat good warm food in a warm house or is it because of the presents.

I was a kid once believe it or not. All I cared about was presents. Christmas without presents would have been tragic to my childhood mind.

The only thing I can think of to justify the nonsense is that Jesus being so gracious has taken his own birthday and made it a psuedo-birthday for everyone else who cares to celebrate it. After all, what would you get the Son for Christmas. He wants your spirit and you can give that all day everyday.
