So although the 1st amendment states you have the right to freedom of expression, that doesn't count if someone is using that right to express an opinion about the 2nd amendment?

I'm confused. I really am confused.

Tell me again about the bit where America is the land of the free and the just?

Morgan is protected by his right to free speech as a foreign national.

You have a right to your guns, he has a right to free speech.

I agree, though I doubt Piers Morgan would agree as well...

Re: US petition to deport PIERS MORGAN over 70,000... BBC reporter says he will be ARRESTED at HEATHROW!
The argument used in the "Petition" is an argument of "Equal Absurdity"...

Morgan, a foreign national, advocates taking away American's rights to bear arms. A right granted by the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution.

They argue he should be deported because he is a foreign national advocating against and in sedition of our United States Constitution...

But it doesn't really effect his right to free speech, no one is saying his tongue should be cut out, no one is saying put him in jail...

How does him going back to England shut down his "Free Speech?!?!?"

All things have consequences, freedom of speech is not freedom from the consequences of that speech...

As a lawyer I would recommend Piers Morgan to sue the creators of this 'petition' for violation of human rights of a private citizens and also subversion of international conventions.I would also advise Piers to sue for defamation of character particularly slander and libel.

why is everyone giving this c*cksucker so much attention and importance?

He's a British version of Chuck Barris

ignore the douche and remove his power

If Vanna White, Snookie or some other US media clown went to the UK and began lecturing the Brits on their politics, I'm sure they'd be laughed off the air

why do we give these fools so much power?

Isn't it crazy though that a guy asks a few questions and is threatened with deportation? People posting saying he better watch out for angry Americans. Isn't this the biggest injustice in the whole situation? Americans talk about freedom, HA.. "You are free to do as we tell you"

I recommend you read this if you don't think this has hurt his public image remember there is always a fine line between what constitutes slander and or libel.

Libel -
1.Law.
a.defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
b.the act or crime of publishing it.
c.a formal written declaration or statement, as one containing the allegations of a plaintiff or the grounds of a charge.

Slander -

3. Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.

The first amendment is important... but you can't use a right guaranteed to you by the constitution to infringe upon the rights that others are guaranteed by it. I would imagine that having nasty lies spread about you might hinder your rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... mostly the last one.

Some possible damages Mr. Piers Morgan could have sustained are.

Tarnished reputation
Loss of credibility
Loss of viewership
Public opinion ruined
Loss of income
Other emotional losses
etc

Lies that were told:

He is anti-American
He hates America's rights and freedoms
etc

Of course this is all speculation and I only outline some of the possible losses Piers could have sustained and only Mr.Morgan himself knows how this petition has hurt him changed the view of the public on him.

And, in typical lawyer fashion, you didn't answer either of my quesitons...

What damages has he sustained, what lies were told, and also, how does his work visa being revoked and him going home to the country of his birth affect his right to free speech?!?!?
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Some possible damages Mr. Piers Morgan could have sustained are.

Tarnished reputation
Loss of credibility
Loss of viewership
Public opinion ruined
Loss of income
Other emotional losses
etc

Lies that were told:
He tried to subvert the second amendment.
He is anti-American
He hates America's rights and freedoms
etc

Of course this is all speculation and I only outline some of the possible losses Piers could have sustained and only Mr.Morgan himself knows how this petition has hurt him changed the view of the public on him.

Have you listened to what Piers Morgan has said about gun owners and the 2nd Amendment...perhaps they should be the ones filing the liable suit...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Here is the exact text of the Petition...

British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.

I would say everything said in that petition can be backed up by hours upon hours of footage from Piers Morgan's very own television show...

And there is not a single lie or defamatory word there...

While Piers Morgan can sue for defamation of character ,I have just reviewed what you said and it looks like Piers himself could be guilty of espionage and treason which could warrant his deportation since he is a foreign national

Bear in mind that:
Treason is subversive of the government; there is High Treason, as well. ('treason' meaning; subversion of the rights of citizens as well).

Espionage, is snooping in violation of trust. Trust is designated by the Constitution.

Treason can be an action that is perpetuated by espionage.

American citizens are protected from charges of espionage, by the rights of the First Amendment, since it guarantees that the population of citizens are to be kept informed via a Free Press and remain active within the workings of the government.
