I don't think people of other nations exactly understand America's dilemma. Granted, we already have gun control on a limited basis. We aren't allowed to own fully automatic military grade rifles without first acquiring a $15,000 permit.

That said, I knew of at least a dozen people in High School who owned these types of weapons. Yes, they were High School aged, so if an amateur high school aged gang banger can acquire banned weapons, it sure can't be hard for a hardened criminal to acquire them.

Moving on, these "assault weapons" that are so bad were already banned from 1994-2004 before the ban expired without being renewed by the Bush Administration. The CDC studied the ban along with a National Research Council and found that the ban had little to no impact on the amount of gun related violence. The University of Pennsylvania found no evidence of the assault weapons ban having an impact on violence. John Lott researched the issue and found that murder rates had slightly ticked up during the period in which the ban was in effect.

In other words, the gun control proposed will do nothing to ensure the safety of any American citizen. All it will do is give government that much more control over us.

It's not about that, it's about subversion of the US constitution by a foreign national.

The Constitution was written by and for the Citizens of the United States of America. It does not apply to Citizens or Subjects of another Country.
