Actually, Jesus didn't command christians to do anything. if you are an Israelite, then yes, you need to follow what is written.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” This is to be done once a year in place of the passover celebration. This wasn't a request by Jesus. He TOLD them/us to do this without fail.
