Actually, Jesus didn't command christians to do anything. if you are an Israelite, then yes, you need to follow what is written.

Jesus replaced the passover meal with the memorial of his death and told(commanded) his followers(Christians) to do this every year in remembrance of him/his death.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

This is to be done once a year in place of the passover celebration. This wasn't a request by Jesus. He TOLD them/us to do this without fail.
