OP: I worked for years in the 'service industry'. Hell, still do, albeit in a more specialized niche than when I was serving, being a barista, or in retail. I honestly haven't noticed any additional hostility towards servers or retailers.

In my shop the level of douchebaggery is rising, but only from the 'thug life' fags that come in. They don't stay long though, open carry dissuades a lot of shitty behavior.
