Just Got My Ass Chewed Out At Laundry Mat For Giving A Black Girl Some Change

hey op i feel ya.....but that dude....i get where hes coming from.

i too - went to help a few families.

im on a networked list - and sent out an offer to feed a few needy families for christmas eve & day.

boxes of prep/trimmings - bakery cakes etc
turkey, ham
lasagna, eggplant parm
veggies, yams-potatoes
drinks

some of the responses i got were an abomination.

some TELLING me, "I hate turkey, better not be turkey, what else do you have?".....then someone replies "ill take the offer but it has to be gluten free" /eyeroll

im like....does my email look like it came from dennys.com?

top it all off........i selected the families.....per their situation. im sure some of them exaggerated.....

few were gracious, thankful and very nice people. *one old woman touched my face - no words, just smiled.

then.....the coal stockings showed......
one cunt shows up - not even a thank you. my kids/i wished her a merry christmas. and all she did was turn her head.

this other woman....who i late added.....shows up driving.....you fuckin ready? a goddamned lincoln navigator!! *my son was a pube away from letting the air out of her rear tire.

I actually find this episode pretty interesting and it shows where we are headed. There is a strong backlash arising towards those on welfare and the poor in general. So much so that it pisses some people off to see poor people given money. I hate to think what is going to happen when this gets worse.

I saw the girl storming out of the laundry in near tears. If I hadn't said anything to her, she would have diffused that anger and rage someplace else because of that man's meanness towards her. She may still do that. Maybe she will vandalize something or break into a car. Maybe she won't. But I saw her anger.

We are living in such volatile times that I am surprised I don't see stuff like this more often really.

In my area, there are people that make a living by standing on street corners. Now apparently the shelter is giving dogs to the homeless, or an organization is "renting dogs" basically to homeless or people who stand on street corners begging, in order to gain sympathy from passers by, so they get more money. Thing is, all these dogs look well groomed, healthy, and are very obedient. If they are truly the homeless mans companion, they would be dirty, on the verge of being emaciated, and far from obedient.

I carry water in my car, and usually will give them a couple of bottles of water, or sometimes buy them a coffee, or food. Unfortunately my efforts are moot, because they dont want that. They want the money.

In Orange County, Ca., ( I believe it was O.C.) a man had been cited for standing on street corners begging, on numerous ocassions. It was later learned, when interviewed, that he made about $66,000.00 the previous year from begging, and he admitted he does it because it's easy, he is lazy, and doesnt want to work. True story. I dont have a link, but its available on the web somewhere.

Your thread post is ironic for me; I gave a white man money to get on the bus, a few months ago. I had to go pay my car insurance and when I was getting back into my car in the company's parking lot, he walked over to me and said he was short on change for the bus and asked, very politely, if I could spare some.

I gave him all the money I had in my pocket at the time, which was about seven dollars, and some coins.

A month ago, a white woman rolled up beside me at the gas station and literally begged me to give her some money for gas. She said she had lost her job (downsized out) and had spent her last dime on food, and her tank was on E. I had watched her asked a white man for money before she approached me, and he gave her an impatient look, shook his head no, and drove off. Funny thing was, she didn't look like your typical "beggar"; she was clean and slightly dishevled, but she looked weary. She had a Jersey accent too, which was the first thing I actually noticed (I live in Atlanta).

I told her I wouldn't give her the money, but I would pay for the gas for her, and she looked SO relieved! I felt so sorry for her. The two gas clerks inside (they were from Ethiopia) saw the whole exchange and one was shocked that I put $25 gas in the woman's car because I didn't know her.

I wish I could have bought more for her, but unfortunately I live on a tight budget myself, and was buying twenty-five bucks worth of gas for my own car at the time.

AND, just recently, I was coming off the highway and saw a black man standing on the side of the road, holding a sign that read: I'm hungry. Please help.

So I picked him up, drove to my bank, and withdrew $100 and gave it to him. (I know, I probably shouldn't have let him get into my car, but he looked too tired to do anything but sit there, which is wxactly what he did.)And he was so thankful. After I dropped him off, I cried all the way home...

Trust me: Doing things for others in need ALWAYS returns to you. I'm living proof of that.

And good for you. I'm a black lady and I say thank you for helping her.

I was minding my own business putting clothes in a dryer, when a young black girl approached me and asked if she could have a dollar for the bus. Normally, I don't make a habit out of giving money to strangers because I am asked too often and would be broke if I gave to everyone that asked. But it is Christmas Eve and she really looked like she needed it. So I gave her two dollars worth of quarters and wished her good luck.

Then this hispanic older man asked me if I knew "how bad the economy was?" I replied that yes, I was well aware. And then he proceeded to chew me out for giving the girl money. He said I was part of the problem and he was talking really loudly so everyone could hear. I just rolled my eyes and laughed and turned around to finished putting quarters in the machine.

The girl who asked for the money somehow heard this and started saying something to the man, then he began to yell at her telling her that she was probably on welfare and had babies at home she couldn't take care of. Then they yelled some other stuff I couldn't make out to each other.

Before I left, I made sure to wish the man a Merry Christmas.

Me and the girl both made our way out the front door and she looked extremely upset. I told her not to worry about it and some people were just scrooges. She looked like she was going to cry. I felt sorry for her.

Maybe I am part of the problem by giving change when I feel compelled to. But I certainly would hate to live in a world where no one helped anyone else ever. I think we need to help when we feel compelled. And on this Christmas Eve I felt compelled.

I mean hell, they have every advantage, education, affirmative action,, free housing, free food, preferential treatment for jobs, admission to schools,, free healthcare, they are given absolutely every possible advantage and leg up to succeed yet they STILL are unable to become productive.

Once, an old man, really skinny and ollllddd, used to show up at the swings. His English wasn't great, but I understood a tiny bit. He would motion his fingers to his mouth.He was hungry! I never knew where he lived. He'd just show up at the swing park in front of our house, and sit and look at the ground.

Finally I would start bringing out a sandwich every day to him. He would smile, cry, etc....Turns out, the assholes that were supposed to be caring for him, were cashing his SS checks, and letting him starve. They went to jail, and he went to a home. Poor thing.

That one is a common ruse, used to see it all the time. However, offering to buy her gas was the right thing to do.

If someone asks for money because they are hungry I generally offer to buy them something to eat. You would be surprised at how many people have turned me down and acted annoyed because I didn't give them green.

Other posters are right when they say to trust your gut. It is never a bad thing to try to help someone. I also met a homeless guy once and he told me he needed money for a drink because he was starting to get sick.

Knowing that someone who drinks regularly can die trying to detox on their own can kill them I got him some booze. At least he was honest with me, I could see his hands shaking and knew he was in bad shape.

People like the OP are just encouraging people like this black girl to scam other people, especially around Christmas time. People who only give to these beggars around Christmas are hypocrites.

I hate when people act nice around Christmas but go back to their real selves at other times of the year.
