If you are so concerned about the bad feelings your child/ren may feel when not receiving gifts, next year start planning now. Buy stuff when you can on sale, at least you will have something to put under the tree!!! Merry Christmas! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12366656 btw: my jew neighbor just got his 16 year old son a brand new Mustang Mach I--red....the kid is eleated. So apparently not everyone is doing so poorly, but then again it is the damn-ed Jews who are responsible for you haveing no money. It is they, via their Puppet Bare-Och Huesain Obama that has ruined the American Economy and drivin it into Communism against the wills of the people. Just so a few Chosen People can buy their kids brand new mustangs. Anyway, hope they don't turn out like the kid in this video, and Merry Christmas :-) Oh ya, if it matters, the 16 year old kid is a Jew. Ugly with a huge hooked nose, they still have the Obama sign in their front yard too. No idea where the mom is, she's never around. Just the dad and kid.... Maybe in a few years people will get Lampshades and soap as Christmas gifts, and laugh and laugh. gnowumsayin :-) whats wrong with you not all jewish people are bad folks and you fucking know it To the %99 Be glad you still are asleep and dream awakening and knowing is the real nightmare |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 30812945 12/24/2012 10:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is amazing what a trip to the Dollar Tree to get a couple of puzzles, a checkers set, and some art supplies (and I'm talking ten dollars worth of stuff) can do for a kid's happiness, if the gifts are accompanied by a loving adult spending hours enjoying those pastimes with the child. We were lucky that we could afford a couple of "major" gifts for the kids this year, but we fleshed it out, accomplished "quantity" of presents, with dollar store goodies that we will invest a lot of time with the kids enjoying. I'm not trying to be holier than thou, and I know that we are lucky that we can get a couple of high-dollar gifts, but in a time of diminishing means and expectations in this country, it is good to remember what can be accomplished on a budget. Wishing you a bright holiday season and a more prosperous year next year! |

Anyone else? yeah...celebrate solstice, and talk about the illusion of spending money to make each other happy. don't guilt trip yourself hun. Tell ya what.. don't sweat it.. take the time to spend it with them.. go fishing.. sledding, anything Spend the day with them, they will remember that more. Take the time to have a close relationship with your kids.. that goes for all of you. it may seem like things are bad but the time they are growing and impressionable is short. Don't let the fucksticks in government take that from you as well.. MAKE the time and be a parent, they will respect that more in 10 years than some chinese chinkoleum toy. |

You can make one hell of a fort that a kid would love. You aren't alone but at least your kids are with you. I was Santa for a battered women shelter and it was heartbreaking thinking those kids lives have been turned upside down because of poor parenting |

Anyone else? How many years have you been offering this play set/fort to your children? How cruel of you to bring their hopes up only to crush them. (again this year) I doubt they have asked for this gift. If they have, you should've been honest and told them you can't afford it. I think you're after a hand-out. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 30117472 12/24/2012 11:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can imagine it is difficult to explain to your children that they won't get the things they wanted this year. Peer pressure can be difficult as though they may not really care, it may be hard to tell their friends. One poster had a good suggestion about waiting until the beginning of the year. Celebrate 3 Kings day (if you are religious) That's in January. More importantly, they have you! They know and love you and I am sure you feel the same way about your children. Look back over your experience and think about the times when you were really happy. It probably wasn't due to anything material, but because you were at a special place, or with people who meant a lot to you or maybe even doing something simple. It's never about the "things we get" but rather the experiences we share with one another and those we have ourselves. Maybe you can do something special with your children. Even if its baking cookies together or going to a park or walking looking at decorations...something that doesn't cost a lot of money. When the Barbies, forts and other toys are long gone...those won't be the things they remember. What they will remember is the time they spent with you and the fun and happiness you all shared as a family. This is your opportunity to teach them that we aren't the things we have or buy....we are something so much more and so much better than that. They will grow up to value people rather than "things". Anyone else? Love. You have love to give. You have laughter. Play cards, cook pancakes like Mickey Mouse. You have the expectations, not the kids. I never knew we were poor growing up. My had warm clothes (we traded between all the cousins...oh...didn't know that was poor) We had plenty of games....with a deck of cards. Jigsaw puzzles were fun at that age. We collected rocks, we collected bugs...we watched the starts. We finger painted. We learned secret writing with lemon juice. Don't apologize. If you say anything, just say Santa called and said he was going to be late. Get on Yahoo and look up your area and see if they have a freecycle group. Ours in Central California is awesome. I almost can guarantee, if you find and post on it tonight...someone will have something they can give you, which you can wrap for your children. People are awesome. Merry Christmas...be joyful for what you have, not sad for what you have not. |

Everyone's situation is different. Some people can't find work and have a lot of bills to pay. Food, rent and bills in my opinion come first before presents. |

Yeah, that's more like it "broke ass mom" some people are born into being uneducated because their own parents were uneducated and did nothing to advance themselves. Thus, continuing the cycle of poverty. No hate to the poverty folks but 80ish% of the time its preventable with a little education and dedication to advancing yourself. No pity from this guy unless misfortune or health issues are a cause . |
