I don't smoke but I do drink about one or two bottles of whisky per year.

Ok I let this go on long enough. I kept this going because I saw so much good come from so many people here.

I did not mean that I had no presents, but I had no big presents like the ones on their wish lists.

I use to make really good money but now I don't. We became parents when my in-laws both died and their adopted son came to live with us. We bought a bigger house in a safer neighborhood. Five years later CPS called us & our family grew to five. I want to build them a cool fort because I can't afford one of the $1,000 ones. I however can build about anything from anything.

I work part time for minimum wage so I can get them on the bus and meet them at home again. When I tell a perspective employer that I can start tomorrow but I can't be in till 9, and have to leave by 3:30. They tell me they can't use me. These boys mean the world to us & we are just trying to save as much of there childhood as we can.

Yes we have nerff guns, puzzles, and games under the tree, but no bicycles, scooters, footballs, or a fort. We will read from the bible, open presents, make home made cookies, and drink hot coacoa tomorrow followed by a nice dinner.

Look, I'm not trying to get them cars, or jet ski's but this economy has tanked. The work force is flooded. Almost everyone has a college degree.

I figured there were many of you out there that feel the pinch & are saddened by not being able to give your kids at least one thing the asked for.

Btw I have not emailed or PM'ed anyone about this. I don't pay for cable, I only have a 15" tv since my five year old did a flip into it when he first moved in with us. I don't smoke and I only occationaly drink from a bottle or two I keep at the house. We don't eat out, and we never go to bars.

Hey, like the rest of you I eat a lot of ramen noodles & I save the flavor packet to have broth latter. I can stretch a dollar.

Again I do have presents under the tree. Many others do not & I can understand their situation.

Little kids know things are rough. They really do.
Keep them away from family or friends trees that may have a ton of gifts.

My suggestion is, be honest with the kids.
Less reading in the bible, more explaining the story of christmas and economy. They will understand.

I have no sympathy for you.Your kids deserve better than what you offer.

They have your love and they have life those are the best two gift's you can possible have!

You can show them that giving another person love is far more valuable than life itself

get down to the soup kitchens and show them people who have no home

Love is so precious..it cant be translated into things..its a gift itself..just put a big pink bow around your head..do a little dance..and say..hey I am your gift this year..this is my gift for you..the love I will always feel for you..no shop can ever sell this..and no one else will have this exact same present as you..because its for you and just for you

Thinking of my child hood, some of the things I enjoyed the most were big brown boxes (like washing machine size).

I made this into my own fort, or base, went inside it, it was a spaceship, a den etc etc

When you are a kid your imagination is limitless, toys are quite limited and soon get boring. But a box, it can be anything.

Nothing was stopping you making a fort out of some paper mache too.

I am in danger of losing my house and received a letter giving me till the end of the month ,for being £700 behind in the mortgage ,my son wasn't very happy when i had too say i couldn't afford presents for him and his siblings yesterday ,all my money goes in bill paying ,i work hard ,i have next to nothing to show for it i tried and tried but the end of the month leaves pittance ,i will try for the sales in january on my payday on the 23rd ,and hope i can raise the mortgage money before its too late . so yeh im in the same boat .

Condoms are cheap, children you cant afford arent.

Something is wrong if with child benefit, tax credits and so on if you cant afford to make ends meet and live on treasure island.

Its a bit late after you lose your job when you could afford your children and rather than be dependent on the state you get into any job ,my case is different my children are in a disability care unit after my wife passed on i had a nervous breakdown etc ,so my income NOW is totally different if i had the children living with me ,but i never miss birthdays ,just got a bit of difficulties being on low income at the moment .

Some people here are JERKS.. my husband lost his job due to a company downsizing a year ago, he's been trying to find ANYTHING since then.
We had to move from our more expensive apartment to a cheap one in a bad area! where I live we don't have programs for christmas for low income families (if we do I don't know how to access them due to the language barrier.. yeah I'm an anglo in Quebec)

A few special angels made Christmas happen for me this year and I cannot thank them enough! otherwise my kids would have had nothing but a few dollar store toys under the tree.

Most normal "poor" kids get a $20 gift from Walmart and THAT'S IT!

Bitch puhlease.....When I was young I played outside till dark. When Mom called me it was too late, ass whoopin commenced. We collected chestnuts that fell and made cabins on the neighbors clothelines out of the blankets our friends stole from the laundry. Get creative and don't bitch about gifts. Tell your kid to smell the great outdoor!
