They have asked and while a handout would be cool, it is not what I'm after. I'll post more when I get to the end of this thread.

Ok I let this go on long enough. I kept this going because I saw so much good come from so many people here.

I did not mean that I had no presents, but I had no big presents like the ones on their wish lists.

God bless you all, even the mean judgmental spiteful ones.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Every One.

I have suggested an unpin.
I think you are a liar, and a cheat.

Merry Christmas to all Children across the Universe.

Can we get an unpin?

Do it for the Children who really do have nothing or Christmas!

I've done the best I could bu still I could not come up with the money for gifts. So they are not getting the play set / fort they wanted again this year.

We are all alive & healthy, but that's hard to explain to a five & a seven year old.

Anyone else?

Bro- our kids are ages 8 and 7 and we got them...nothing. Our money was spent for things like rent, staple foods, and a little gas for in our truck. We are beyond blessed because this is more than we had a couple months ago. You obviously love your children and care about them. THAT is a gift money can't buy. <3

Yeah. I kept reading- I retract my earlier post but OP is still an ass. We were homeless two months ago and about to start living in our truck. My husband lost his job, my sister kicked us out of our place so she could take it over after her druggy lover left her with a mortgage. We are not even sure we're going to have a roof over our heads in two weeks. I'm happy to be able to make sure the kids have corn flakes at this point. I'm on a 3 year old laptop and thank God the internet is free @ the motel room we're all living in. Merry Christmas <3

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
Drive some alleys and pick up shipping pallets. You can make one hell of a fort that a kid would love. You aren't alone but at least your kids are with you. I was Santa for a battered women shelter and it was heartbreaking thinking those kids lives have been turned upside down because of poor parenting
 Quoting: docsquat

So the women getting the shit kicked out of her is a bad parent for getting help to get her and her kids out of that situation?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30749140

Didn't mean it that way was talking about the scumbags that forced the women into hiding. Tink about being a 10 year old girl and being taken out of your home, your school and your friends/surroundings and being locked away in another city. Can't talk to any of your friend. But if you put the child first then choosing the wrong mate has to become part of the problem.

Anyway op, hug your kids, put them in the car and tell them that you are going to build the fort as a family present. Get some pallets, fridge boxes, bicycle wheels etc. think about when you were a kid and what your imagination could turn into a steering wheel or a ray gun.

Tell that to the kids at school that are gonna tease them the whole next year for not getting any christmas presents.
Better yet try tell that to your own kids and see how they react, no matter how you look at it that day bring joy to the kids, bring families together and if that's not a beautiful thing I don't know what is.

I've never done drugs, I work to keep the house, and I'm home everyday to great my boys. Money is tight like many of the posters here.

I always got what I asked fore and mo when I was a kid & I was 1 of 4 children my single mom took care of.

God bless you. I too am living paycheck to paycheck. It sucks but do I give up the house and move into an apartment where CPS would then take my boys away from us, or do I stick it out. My boys have special needs & under the foster rules we have to meet those needs, or they go back into the system.

No, it is not hard to explain if you believe what it is you tell them to be true.

If you care about how your children perceive things you might explain to them that most of the planet does not even share this holiday, that it has become a western world traditon which of itself is not that old, that the real message of this is different than receiving but of giving, not presents, but of ourswelves, doing something for another.

Kids are awesome, they can grasp this quickly and live it.

I use to make really good money but now I don't. We became parents when my in-laws both died and their adopted son came to live with us. We bought a bigger house in a safer neighborhood. Five years later CPS called us & our family grew to five. I want to build them a cool fort because I can't afford one of the $1,000 ones. I however can build about anything from anything.

I work part time for minimum wage so I can get them on the bus and meet them at home again. When I tell a perspective employer that I can start tomorrow but I can't be in till 9, and have to leave by 3:30. They tell me they can't use me. These boys mean the world to us & we are just trying to save as much of there childhood as we can.

Yes we have nerff guns, puzzles, and games under the tree, but no bicycles, scooters, footballs, or a fort. We will read from the bible, open presents, make home made cookies, and drink hot coacoa tomorrow followed by a nice dinner.

Look, I'm not trying to get them cars, or jet ski's but this economy has tanked. The work force is flooded. Almost everyone has a college degree.

I figured there were many of you out there that feel the pinch & are saddened by not being able to give your kids at least one thing the asked for.

Btw I have not emailed or PM'ed anyone about this. I don't pay for cable, I only have a 15" tv since my five year old did a flip into it when he first moved in with us. I don't smoke and I only occationaly drink from a bottle or two I keep at the house. We don't eat out, and we never go to bars.

Hey, like the rest of you I eat a lot of ramen noodles & I save the flavor packet to have broth latter. I can stretch a dollar.

God bless you all, even the mean judgmental spiteful ones.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Every One.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14577918

Thanks for your story. Just save up a little each month and eventually they will get their fort. They still have many years to enjoy it even if they don't get it right now or even next year. And I have seen people whose kids have grown up and they want to get rid of forts cheap. You just have to go pick them up somehow. Might want to put a want add for one next year and see what comes up. Check out freecycle everyday. And it looks like you are just fine providing you kids with good memories.

I was sitting in the same boat, to say, but everything worked out okay. The Church gave some presents and through some side jobs, I was able to buy some too. My daughter knows nothing about how desperate I was, she just enjoyed a great Christmas. No, she did not receive the doll house she wanted, but what she did receive was given all in love.

My suggestion is, be honest with the kids.
Less reading in the bible, more explaining the story of christmas and economy. They will understand.

The message is always love.
The new playstation is just because we are all so happy if our kids are :D

Merry christmas.
It doesnt need any religion to celebrate love festivities.
Put the bible away, god is elsewhere ^^
 Quoting: Rawfox

Why put the bible away? That is a good book that tells where we came from, how we got into this situation and where we are going. It is a very important book and shows how God feels on matters. And it is also about Jesus which is why people, even though misguided, celebrate this day as his birthday(which it isn't).

Some people here are JERKS.. my husband lost his job due to a company downsizing a year ago, he's been trying to find ANYTHING since then.
We had to move from our more expensive apartment to a cheap one in a bad area! where I live we don't have programs for christmas for low income families (if we do I don't know how to access them due to the language barrier.. yeah I'm an anglo in Quebec)

A few special angels made Christmas happen for me this year and I cannot thank them enough! otherwise my kids would have had nothing but a few dollar store toys under the tree.

Part of being a good parent is explaining the realities of life. Christmas should be about Christ. Maybe you should be more involved with a local church.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30787543

Are you that brainwashed?
Christmas is a pagan holiday, you're basically teaching your children to celebrate Satan.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21693114

And that is really the problem. Christians being misled by wolves in sheep's clothing. It is a demonic holiday that they are giving their energy to. Most people hate the truth but that is the truth. If people would just ignore xmas and get on with their lives they would be much happier and stress free.

And if they really want to celebrate Jesus' birthday which is not required then pick a day in late September/early October and celebrate it. Interesting that we know the exact day and hour of his death but the bible is silent as to exactly when he was born because we weren't meant to celebrate it. Only to remember his death(which Jesus said to do) which bought us back from sin and death.

Why even sweat it? Xmas is just another one of those mind fuk national sales events.

Why fall for the manipulation from organized retailers to empty your wallet on Xmas..its stupid as hell to buy stuff for people just because some ridiculous fairytale about some ridiculous invisible man in the sky's birthday, that by the way didn't occur in the fictional book on DEC 25th anyway.

Conditioning your children from birth to "believe in ridiculous HS just because everyone else does" is setting them up for incredible failure in life.

NOBODY WAS BORN ON XMAS DAY, AND NOBODY WANTS YOU TO SPEND MONEY THAT YOU DON'T HAVE JUST TO CAVE IN TO THE PRESSURE TO "KEEP UP WITH THE JONE'S !

Enjoy the day with your family, eat a nice meal and watch some football, everything else is just an ignorant waste of time, money and emotion.

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
I remember back to XMas of 1999, my husband had lost his job at Thanksgiving that year, I was at home with a new baby, we had nothing but a pound of hamburger in the freezer for Christmas.

I drove with the kids to the bank to cash a check from the inlaws, xmas gift.. and discovered our account was $40 overdrawn, due to a $50 overdraft fee. PLUS they were unwilling to cash the check because the check came from a bank out of town. Something inside of me just snapped.

Right then and there at the drive through, in front of the cameras, I read them the riot act about the ruthless banking industry. About how I could feed a family of four for a week with that overdraft fee. About how they pretend that the banks are not interconnected electronically, about the ridiculous suggestion that I would have to drive 200 miles to the bank that issued the check in order to cash it.

About how the banks think it's their right to try and buy up the whole world, and dominate the world. I told them that one day, they would get their due. This with the baby crying in the back seat, all caught on camera.

I think I might have ended up on a terrorist watch list that year.

it is true that most stupid people are conservative.

Re: Who else has no presents for their kids tomorrow?
I've done the best I could bu still I could not come up with the money for gifts. So they are not getting the play set / fort they wanted again this year.

We are all alive & healthy, but that's hard to explain to a five & a seven year old.

Anyone else?

TPTB really just want people's energy for this demonic day when they do their horrible deeds. Take your energy back from them and totally ignore this day and the weeks leading up to it.
