You can make one hell of a fort that a kid would love. You aren't alone but at least your kids are with you. I was Santa for a battered women shelter and it was heartbreaking thinking those kids lives have been turned upside down because of poor parenting Quoting: docsquat So the women getting the shit kicked out of her is a bad parent for getting help to get her and her kids out of that situation? Didn't mean it that way was talking about the scumbags that forced the women into hiding. Tink about being a 10 year old girl and being taken out of your home, your school and your friends/surroundings and being locked away in another city. Can't talk to any of your friend. But if you put the child first then choosing the wrong mate has to become part of the problem. Anyway op, hug your kids, put them in the car and tell them that you are going to build the fort as a family present. Get some pallets, fridge boxes, bicycle wheels etc. think about when you were a kid and what your imagination could turn into a steering wheel or a ray gun. Purity of Essence |

If you care about how your children perceive things you might explain to them that most of the planet does not even share this holiday, that it has become a western world traditon which of itself is not that old, that the real message of this is different than receiving but of giving, not presents, but of ourswelves, doing something for another. Kids are awesome, they can grasp this quickly and live it. |

The new playstation is just because we are all so happy if our kids are :D Merry christmas. It doesnt need any religion to celebrate love festivities. Put the bible away, god is elsewhere ^^ Why put the bible away? That is a good book that tells where we came from, how we got into this situation and where we are going. It is a very important book and shows how God feels on matters. And it is also about Jesus which is why people, even though misguided, celebrate this day as his birthday(which it isn't). |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1550123 United States 12/25/2012 12:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Part of being a good parent is explaining the realities of life. Christmas should be about Christ. Maybe you should be more involved with a local church. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30787543 Are you that brainwashed? Christmas is a pagan holiday, you're basically teaching your children to celebrate Satan. And that is really the problem. Christians being misled by wolves in sheep's clothing. It is a demonic holiday that they are giving their energy to. Most people hate the truth but that is the truth. If people would just ignore xmas and get on with their lives they would be much happier and stress free. And if they really want to celebrate Jesus' birthday which is not required then pick a day in late September/early October and celebrate it. Interesting that we know the exact day and hour of his death but the bible is silent as to exactly when he was born because we weren't meant to celebrate it. Only to remember his death(which Jesus said to do) which bought us back from sin and death. |

Ad Lib User ID: 24338672 United States 12/25/2012 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember back to XMas of 1999, my husband had lost his job at Thanksgiving that year, I was at home with a new baby, we had nothing but a pound of hamburger in the freezer for Christmas. I drove with the kids to the bank to cash a check from the inlaws, xmas gift.. and discovered our account was $40 overdrawn, due to a $50 overdraft fee. PLUS they were unwilling to cash the check because the check came from a bank out of town. Something inside of me just snapped. Right then and there at the drive through, in front of the cameras, I read them the riot act about the ruthless banking industry. About how I could feed a family of four for a week with that overdraft fee. About how they pretend that the banks are not interconnected electronically, about the ridiculous suggestion that I would have to drive 200 miles to the bank that issued the check in order to cash it. About how the banks think it's their right to try and buy up the whole world, and dominate the world. I told them that one day, they would get their due. This with the baby crying in the back seat, all caught on camera. I think I might have ended up on a terrorist watch list that year. For now my three boys are chasing each other through the entire house with their new $3 nerff guns. And we are about to start making Christmas cookies as a family. You see I feel truly blessed to know my boys came from neglect, and from the worst abuse possible to our loving home. You see their childhood was stolen from them by a monster. They've been with us over a year and have been in foster homes for three years prior to that so you can figure out how old they were when that monster hurt them. They are safe now. We should all here feel blessed to know who here are the kind decent people, and who here are the cold unfeeling judgmental monsters. To all of you kind people who like me are struggling to make ends meet. Hang in there. There are more of us than them. To all the others...
