Yeah. I kept reading- I retract my earlier post but OP is still an ass. We were homeless two months ago and about to start living in our truck. My husband lost his job, my sister kicked us out of our place so she could take it over after her druggy lover left her with a mortgage. We are not even sure we're going to have a roof over our heads in two weeks. I'm happy to be able to make sure the kids have corn flakes at this point. I'm on a 3 year old laptop and thank God the internet is free @ the motel room we're all living in. Merry Christmas <3

We are all alive & healthy, but that's hard to explain to a five & a seven year old.

Bro- our kids are ages 8 and 7 and we got them...nothing. Our money was spent for things like rent, staple foods, and a little gas for in our truck. We are beyond blessed because this is more than we had a couple months ago. You obviously love your children and care about them. THAT is a gift money can't buy. <3

I have no biological kids. I have three sons that I provide for The youngest two were to be separated into two different foster homes so my wife and I took them in.

You're making me feel bad because I just bought myself two houses, and you can't even afford a toy for your kids for tomorrow!

I went through broke years. I bought stuff at thrift shops, yard sales and even wrapped up a box of their favorite cereals. I went through the cupboards yesterday and put together a bag of food for our neighbor who is really struggling.

Ok I let this go on long enough. I kept this going because I saw so much good come from so many people here.

I did not mean that I had no presents, but I had no big presents like the ones on their wish lists.

I use to make really good money but now I don't. We became parents when my in-laws both died and their adopted son came to live with us. We bought a bigger house in a safer neighborhood. Five years later CPS called us & our family grew to five. I want to build them a cool fort because I can't afford one of the $1,000 ones. I however can build about anything from anything.

I work part time for minimum wage so I can get them on the bus and meet them at home again. When I tell a perspective employer that I can start tomorrow but I can't be in till 9, and have to leave by 3:30. They tell me they can't use me. These boys mean the world to us & we are just trying to save as much of there childhood as we can.

Yes we have nerff guns, puzzles, and games under the tree, but no bicycles, scooters, footballs, or a fort. We will read from the bible, open presents, make home made cookies, and drink hot coacoa tomorrow followed by a nice dinner.

Look, I'm not trying to get them cars, or jet ski's but this economy has tanked. The work force is flooded. Almost everyone has a college degree.

I figured there were many of you out there that feel the pinch & are saddened by not being able to give your kids at least one thing the asked for.

Btw I have not emailed or PM'ed anyone about this. I don't pay for cable, I only have a 15" tv since my five year old did a flip into it when he first moved in with us. I don't smoke and I only occationaly drink from a bottle or two I keep at the house. We don't eat out, and we never go to bars.

Hey, like the rest of you I eat a lot of ramen noodles & I save the flavor packet to have broth latter. I can stretch a dollar.

My suggestion is, be honest with the kids.
Less reading in the bible, more explaining the story of christmas and economy. They will understand.

The message is always love.
The new playstation is just because we are all so happy if our kids are :D

Some people here are JERKS.. my husband lost his job due to a company downsizing a year ago, he's been trying to find ANYTHING since then.
We had to move from our more expensive apartment to a cheap one in a bad area! where I live we don't have programs for christmas for low income families (if we do I don't know how to access them due to the language barrier.. yeah I'm an anglo in Quebec)

A few special angels made Christmas happen for me this year and I cannot thank them enough! otherwise my kids would have had nothing but a few dollar store toys under the tree.

Yup totally agree , there will be presents just not today ,it will be early part of january . I felt guilty and just transferred the last £60 to my eldest son who is in uni
and not in disability care , the others will have theirs by january 15th .and phone them too explain
