United States 12/24/2012 10:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My Youngest Daughter's Christmas Wish : "I want them to ban the AR-15" While in church tonight at Christmas Eve services I looked into my youngest daughter's eyes (she's 6) and asked her "if you could have anything for Christmas, anything at all, what would it be ?" . She looked at me and said "Daddy, I wish that they could ban the AR-15 assault rifle that was used to kill all those other kids last week." How sad that this is now what are children have to wish for -- instead of toys and fun they have to wish to get rid of things that can harm them. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1277549 Actually I think she called it "the Bushmaster" -- doesn't matter though, she's knows it's something to be afraid of. |

Why are you exposing your child to the media propaganda and scaring the crap out of her? My Christmas wish for your family is to throw the TV out in the junk pile Merry Christmas |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9943244 It was a shame OP. Although, if your daughter knew the statistics for automobile deaths, it is likely she would never had gotten in the car to go to church with you... Automobiles do more damage than firearms. Does you daughter think we should we ban them also? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30437522 I thought the world's biggest problem was "nuclear weaponry, daddy." "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30811246 Any adult who would allow a child to touch an assault weapon like that should go to prison. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9943244 My son learned to shoot with a Ruger 10/22 at age 5. By the time he was your daughters age he was proficient with an AR-15. By the time he was 10 he could hit a pop bottle at 150 yards with a .270. Teach your daughter that there are evil people in the world. A tool is not evil. Show her how to overcome fear an how to defend herself. Teach her how to love and show compassion and mercy, and to overcome evil. A tool is nothing to be scared of. Merry Christmas. And bless your little girls heart. That is all... |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: My Youngest Daughter's Christmas Wish : "I want them to ban the AR-15" Letting a child develop their own fears based off of news propaganda is shameful. Your encouraging negative self-talk with-in the child at a extreamly young age. This can be extreamly detrimental to the child and lead to habbits of thought. Overcoming the fear of imagined risks is one of the keys to successful human relations and it is just a imagined risk, no amount of her worrying will change anything. You need to nip it in the bud and put in it realistic perspective so she does not worry before you end up with an 8 year old “adult” who lost a childhood. I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.
We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |
