May I suggest that next year you try to do it yourself. You can find poor Christian Churches in many countries that could use some goats and other things. You will get a better blessing doing it that way and it will change your life for the better.

Whatever happened to not letting your left hand know what right gave to others? So you gave some fucking goats and chickens to some poor bastards that needed them. Who did you do it for? Did you do it for the people getting them? Did you do it to be an instrument of God's love? Did you do it so you would feel good about yourself? Bragging rights? I can't claim to be a good Christan - wouldn't want to reflect badly on God or on those who really make a concerted effort to walk Christ's mandated walk of humility - but even I recall a story about some guy in the front of the temple talking shit about all the good things he was doing (helping the poor and widows and shit) and then there some some other poor bastard, a tax collector I believe, who wouldn't even step deeply into the temple because he knew how fucked-up he was. I believe Jesus asked us to consider who's prayers of the two would be heard. The self-aggrandizing would get his reward in the temple or on GLP and the other bastard knowing he flawed would be rewarded for his humilty.

Chickens peck and Goats kick. If you're going to do something lovely and kind for the edification of your fellow man and the glory of God then just shut the fuck up and do it.

I did it to obey God. It made me feel good, yes. I am sharing with others because it is a true spirti of Christmas in my opinion and it is a good thing to share in my opinion. It made me happy to take a baby step in the right direction. I plan to do it from now on, not for praise here, just to try and inspire oothers and share joy that I feel. Yes I agree that when you give, it should probably be secret and I will do that in the future. Have you not also heard the story of the protical son? A child that went astray and then returned to his father. I am sure the father threw a huge party and told everyone of the good things that his son had returned. Well, that is like me and I am happy now to have a giving heart and have finally let go of some of my worldy things to better trust in the lord and take a leap of faith that my bills will still be paid even if I don't know how so I give regardless.

Gosh, so many responses on here, I can tell that there are many here who are hurting really bad and angry with bitterness in their heart. Very quick to point some type of fault and blame at me.

I don't know if this organization is like Heifer.org but with that organization some of the cost goes to teaching the people how to care for the animals and things like that. Also, the recipients are required to give the first offspring of the animal/s to another family! That way, not only the original family is helped but others in the community as well. Those families in turn are then asked to pass on offspring from their gifts to others as well. A gift that KEEPS ON giving!

I wonder how this world might be changed for the better if more people were willing to give. Why can't people just see a need in society and voluntarily fill it (if financially able to) without requiring recognition for doing so, anonymously shall I say?

Perhaps people who were hungry or homeless and received an anonymous gift that provided food or some other necessity would be less inclined to rob from or hurt strangers. After all, how would they know if the one they were thinking of harming was the one responsible for putting food on their table or providing transportation, etc.

Just a thought! This world in the shape it's in needs all the help it can get.

I made sure to give with a joyful heart, and the "in honor of" card was mailed to a relative (my father) who has been cruel to me.

He always sends my thoughtful gifts back to me and refuses my invitations for Christmas ... so this time he won't be able to "return" the goats!!!...

I have "honored" him as god wants me to do... and a poor child will be blessed in the process!
