God has promised us only two things: eternal life and the Cross. The supernatural, the miraculous does not necessarily mean that the work is Godly. Buddhists perform miracles. Test the Spirits! Satan and his followers perform miracles. All the "healings" and "slaying in the Spirit" (being slain in the Spirit is NOT Biblical) that I have seen are phony. Aside from these "miracles" you have been experiencing, has your life changed since becoming a Christian (becoming indwelled with the Holy Spirit) ? Do you sense His presence? Do you have peace? Do you have the results (Galatians 5:22) in your life---love, joy, kindness, goodness, patience, peace and self-control? Those are all the signs and wonders we need. Since becoming a Christian, I have the "peace that surpasses all understanding." The Holy spirit helps me to pray, helps me to study and understand scripture, and helps me to witness. The pentecostal emphasis on miracles, signs and wonders do a disservice to unbelievers and to new believers---undoubtedly it weakens their faith and falsely gives them the idea that, since they cannot experience the signs and wonders, that they aren't Christians. Please don't cause unbelievers who are seeking, and the new Christians to stumble with all the "miracle" nonsense. Salvation and the new life in Christ is all the miracle that we need to transform our lives and make us new and acceptable to God. |

Jesus says that part of not committing adultery is more than physical...it means never even having a lustful thought in your heart about a woman (besides your wife if you have one)...well, I have so much trouble with that! For nearly my entire life since even before puberty, I have masturbated pretty much every day. Biblically, I'm not aware of any verses that say masturbation is a sin...but lusting over someone IS. This is something I'm facing currently on my path in an attempt to follow the teachings of Christ. |
