I'm alone tonight too! Well, my dog is lying on the couch next to me but that's it. Just listening to music on YouTube and refreshing GLP even though I've already read all the top stories. Also feeling anxious cause some assholes decided to say I'm gonna get nuked tomorrow, lol

Spending Christmas alone with my canine friend as well...

I have family out of state but just did not feel like making the trip to visit them this year.

me 2, not just tonight but every night. no family, real friends. shall I pray again for the new year wish that next year will be different? but every year was the same for 9 times.. very sad and don't know why does God give love and blessing to chosen people. where is God when I seek and search every day. where is Jesus, who says He will be my friend and savior?

Embrace the quiet and solitude!

Think of what we are "missing" out on:

*Debt

*Obesity

*Hangover

*The sick feeling of decieving others, such as when people act all happy and prosperous, and are quietly dying inside

Think about what we do have:

*A quiet pause to contemplate the incredible power of nature while the earth swings back from Winter Solstice to renew itself through full winter.

*Solitude, away from the stresses of trying to appear other than we naturally are.

*Time with pets, or taking a hike outdoors.

I lived with a vile narcissistic abusive alcoholic for 7 years I thank God every day for giving me the strength to get away now I help others find their inner strength to do the same. God answers our prayers in strange and different ways sometimes we don't realize until afterwards what his wonderful plan is for us. You have friends here and you are loved. also..lonliness is a feeling/state of mind whether youre alone or with others. therefore we are responsible for our lonliness. good cure is find a way to help others who are less fortunate and help them anonymously. cultural pressure and comparing your life to the propogated perfect life induces self pity esp on holidays. Thank hollywood and madison ave for promoting this fairy tale that No ONE can live up to. Dont believe their lies and programming and youll get over the feeling of not measuring up to what they want you to be like. THIS FEELING WILL PASS. BECOME A BEING WHO LOVES. LOVE IS A VERB. Spending Christmas on my own - but not complaining.

It's the best way. I am not into that materialistic consumerist crap anyway. No TV either.

Got plenty to keep busy with. Books, handicrafts, etc.

Yep, me too, same as last night night before ect.

On the other hand, I really enjoy the peace and quiet :-) And I finally got some rest I so desperatly deserve.

I still feel lonely but.... meh.

i have no family that i chose to be around, so i started to throw party for friends without family too on holidays. became a wonderful tradition.

It's 3:00 AM I must feel lonely..

There can’t be more happiness then a cat…….unless it is two cats. Me too and I’ll take them over most people anytime.

Lonely is a state of mind.

As already stated....you can be lonely in a crowd.

There are different kinds of lonely.

Are you lonely because you are by yourself with no other
person tonight?

If that is the case ....get dressed and got out to where people are. Strike up a conversation with a stranger or two...just casual chit chat.

I don't know your time zone but if the sun has come up....there are unending places to go be with someone....even at a coffee place.

Don't just sit there and bemoan your fate of lonely...change it.

Go to a hospital and ask to visit..........when you come out of there you won't feel lonely any more or depressed....you will be glad to be alive and healthy and your lonely feeling will fade away.

Find beauty in something.........in everything.

Christmas can be a programmed trap of expectations and being alone on Christmas is a major one.....

so...........don't be alone.

Go visit a nursing home or retirement center.

You have gifts to give others......you voice, your time, your smile, your experiences and stories.

There are lots of people out there just waiting for someone like you to come visit so they too can shake off that feeling of lonely.

Go visit an animal shelter and just see all there loneliness there. Take home a new friend for life and love that animal and you won't feel lonely.

Remember....lonely is a state of mind and a state of expectation.
