Every few days theres something else. I like a more balanced approach. Yes things are happening all over the world, there are global changes in the magnetosphere, theres crazy stuff going on. But these doomsday alerts every time a new comet comes around is getting tiring. |

(It will probably turn into one, however.) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30825207 Croatia 12/25/2012 12:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Same as Elenin, first time ever spotted last year IN SEPTEMBER!?! So this shit is FIRST TIME SPOTTED in SEPTEMBER this year!?!?! So as Elenin this one is coming from the OUTER SPACE or "outer solar system" as silly asstronomers want to pretend to be clever. outer solar system LOL There is either SOLAR system or OUTER space PERIOD What "outer solar system" of what STAR??? Oh well, fun aside - the point is that more and more comets are entering OUR SOLAR SYSTEM for the FUCKING FIRST TIME EVER (of the modern human history)!!!!!!! Ain't that DOOMY enough??????????? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 28481149 Canada 12/25/2012 12:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not sure its the comets with periodic orbits we need to worry about. Its the comets that are "new" to our system that we really need to worry about, or those bodies floating around outside on the periphery of our solar system the size of small planets that could decide to wander into the suns gravitational field. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 961432 Really !! how does a comet decide when it wants to go on a journey whats logic got to do with it |
ROB (OP) User ID: 27371577 Switzerland 12/25/2012 01:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Comet ISON [c/2012] will come to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on 28 November 2013 at a distance of 0.012 AU (1,800,000 km; 1,100,000 mi) from the center point of the Sun. Accounting for the solar radius of 695,500 km, the comet will pass approximately 1,100,000 kilometres (680,000 mi) above the Sun's surface. Its orbit is nearly parabolic, which suggests that it may be a new comet coming fresh from the Oort cloud. On closest approach, the comet will pass about 0.072 AU (10,800,000 km; 6,700,000 mi) from Mars on 1 October 2013, and it will pass about 0.42 AU (63,000,000 km; 39,000,000 mi) from Earth on 26 December 2013. Some of the orbital elements of comet ISON are similar to that of the Great Comet of 1680 which suggests the two comets may have fragmented from the same parent body. --wikipedia |

Predicted that the comet tail will be.. HALF.. the length of of the entire sky, capable of being seen anywhere from the northern hemisphere, brighter than the moon, even at 12 noon. Just a cool show to see for a week. |

Quoting: Keneh Dont worry they are tracking everything just keep on working and everything will be fine trust we must in the one called expert I doubt it! the government doesn't give a shit about space anymore! Much cheaper to locate them on the ground then track their movements that way. |
