In the City of Chicago, until it was ruled unconstitutional earlier this year. No one residing in the ciy was allowed to posess or carry a handgun.

In 2012 so far, 446 school aged children were shot, with 62 fatalities. Chicago has among the most restrictive gun laws in the country with no posession or carry of a handgun by anyone.

2nd amendment made sense 200years ago. Today, tyrannic government has agencies (fbi,cia..) and a military that can not be combated against with pistols and semi-automatic weapons.

Also, if you think the current and last government (bush or obama) aren't tyrannical, then the main-stream media has done a number on you.

My country is as corrupt as any other. Ok, not as nearly corrupt as Italy for example, but still :)
The main problem is that they are taking away basic rights in social security and international corporations with globalization (exporting jobs to cheaper work force) are taking over the country, who in the end don't pay taxes.

The Taliban and other insurgent groups in Iraq and Afganistan, whose primary weapon is an AK-47 might disagree. they have picked apart the 2 most powerful and most technologically advanced armies in the world over the last 30 years. In Iran, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, to name a few, the rebels have done a good job armed mostly with pistols and rifles.
They have also acquired and used other weapons, but that is not what they started out with.
