Magnetic poles and actual poles are indeed different things, I just thought people should remember that.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6476436 after the magnetic pole stabilizes how do we know the true north pole won't adjust to it? Because plate tectonics don't work that way. We have mass amount of data on prior magnetic pole reversals (not shifts, they just literally reverse). We also know from time to time the magnetic field around Earth changes in strength. This is documented in the rocks themselves. It's actually pretty cool stuff to learn about.
