I got my husband a circular saw, and my son got some sweet Lego sets and a few books he's been wanting, and a guitar! They were both super happy, which was awesome! rockon

Re: What did you GIVE for Christmas?! POST HERE
I gave my husband a remote controlled helicopter, men's body wash, cologne and aftershave, two full sets of artic weight long underwear (pants, shirt, glove liners, balaclava, socks) for work, my sister, my mom and my sister-in-law, and my stepdaughter a Diamond Candle, my Dad a compass, my ex stepson a $50 Amazon Gift certificate for combination birthday/Christmas present, my stepson a refurbished laptop so he has a computer to do his testing for his work so he can make more money, my nieces a $25 gift card for itunes and gave them each a brooch that had belonged to my Dad's grandmother. I had been given all of her jewelry and these two pieces needed some repair and I did that and reset gems into them that had been missing. They were too little when she had passed to receive anything so I thought it was neat to give them something from her. I sent out a bunch of cards. And we gave my parents a $100 gift certificate to their favorite restaurant (they go every year on Valentine's Day). I gave mine and my husband's friend 10 wheatear pennies I'd collected all year (he collects them and was thrilled). Gifts I got; I got two Diamond Candles from hubby (got 1 real ring and 1 costume jewelry ring), a pair of slippers and a $125 gift certificate from Mom and Dad and a handmade necklace and earrings, hubby also gave me a new set of Prismacolor watercolor markers (my old set was 20 years old) and I draw all the time and 20 sheets of beautiful watercolor paper. I did really well! My favorite part of Christmas is giving gifts and I'm so glad I was able to come up with some money to buy them...I was pretty sad for a little while because I wasn't sure I could swing it but I did it and it made me very happy! I'm broke now, but its worth it! :-)

Re: What did you GIVE for Christmas?! POST HERE
A bunch of wicked-awesome, practical, homemade things that sucked the life out of my entire Dec. we're taken for granted and ill appreciated due to not being shiney plastic electronic garbage or polyester textile crap from Walmart, made in China by slave labour, and bought with cash equivilent to what I recieved in return.
I had to give the impression that I would take them back and throw them in the garbage for them to be accepted as a token of sub-par value, that failed to spark the dead souls or bring even a slight flicker of delight in the eyes of the beholders Satanicly brainwashed, consumer programed minds.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27180401

A hand-carved ornamental axe handle for a ceremonial hand-axe, from a project I took on due to it being abandoned on the person who requested it, when the artisan became more mentally incapacitated and pre-occupied with superfical nonsense and persuit of self-indulgent pleasures.
It is made from a branch of rock solid black walnut wood that fell out of the tree in the back yard(not recomended as a practical material for that use, but) looks incredible and was carved right along the twisted grain so it will never shatter. Sanded down to obsession, three coats of stain, watersealed, 5 coats of varnish, then buffed until it glowed.
I also pledged to uptake the task of reforging and monograming the axe-head to match the original plans.
I will later-on make in secret, a solidified, layered rubber protector for the handle for if he misses his swing so it wont damage it by taking chunks of wood out of the handle, some decorative tassles made with eagle feathers, (if I can find any more in the spring), a leather hand grip, and a leather blade cover that can be secured with a draw-string.
I'm also going to make a display box with a glass front that says "In Case of 'Zombies' Break Glass" with a secret side door so he can take the axe out and use it when he wants to.

Because I have nothing better to do with my life in the void.

I also gave someone who has at times been a real psyco, and big all-round jerk to me, a nutsack filled with black walnuts I polished till they shined, from the tree out back, and a 50-60 year old square glass jar, the likes of which I can find no pictures of on the internet, which I found rolling down a bank of the river in an old burnt garbage pile that was bulldozed over the edge. I made a lid for it from some left over chunk of cedar from a kitchen reno project. I filled the jar with Black Walnuts that I painstakenly collected, hulled, pressure washed, wirebrushed, dried in a homemade drying rack, cracked, gutted, sifted, soaked in salt water 8 hours then dehydrated at 125 for 24 hours. I told him it was healthy and might help him with his alzheimers disease.
I also gave him a pen that I found on the ground, it was really nice and said Volkswagen, so I thought he could put it in his glove box because he has a lifetime issue with never having a pen to write with in the bloody car. Oh, and a $25 gift card for a hardware store close to where he lives.

This was after I spent a full week insulating the hell out of my dungeon room I rent in my landlords house, so I don't have to wear a touque and gloves at my computer or see my breath in the morning when I wake up any more. Then when I was done, a social worker called and told me I was accepted for a low rent public housing apartment which is a full year and a half too late, and no help now what so ever.

I made the dog a doggie door so I don't have to kill him when he wants in or out now that I keep the door closed with the room heated and the hall and other basement rooms still cold, when I am busy or resting and he decides to enter or exit and begins to cry. Unfortunately I had to make a latch for the times he is banned, when I am out and because I can't let the drooling idiot begger in when I am eating.

But you know what, I really only did it for myself, to stay pre-occupied from going mental for lack of gainfull occupation, or solution to my indentured poverty, and respite from the accusations of my abusers,

It's still obvious, despite my effort, nothing is going to take the sadness from their eyes on Christmas anyhow.

Re: What did you GIVE for Christmas?! POST HERE
apart from tickets for a theater show for my mum and her friend,

i gave my birthday (which was on the 24th) to my grandma who is in hospital right now.

besides staying on the 24th with her, i also did not go out and celebrate myself, because i wanted to be with her on the 25th in the morning.
same today to be with her tomorrow morning.

i love her dearly, and as other relatives who live in the same city either don´t even visit her or if they do, just stay for about 30minutes, it depends on me to help her with eating, taking medicine and being company.

besides but connected to that, i received the greatest gift from the man i was dating (had a thread here about this, it is over)i could have thought about:

as he is a doc himself and knows how much i love my grandma, even as he has no obligation to me or her (as we know each other barely for more than 1 month), he helps me a lot coping with the doctors at the hospital.

regardless he was with his family for the holidays, he managed to make phonecalls to her doctors, suggestions and helped me understand the medical terms.

i am grateful beyond words for this.

A Visa Gift Card, so the recipient could purchase what he wants himself, or what he needs. Money is tight all around, and figured it's better than a sweater that wouldnt be worn.

I made a few Santa Hats for some fine folks.
;)

I canned a bunch of stuff I grew in my garden earlier in the year and gave it to friends and family.

I replied to the "what did you get for christmas" thread, but then later wish I hadnt. It seems ...just wrong.....

Christmas is about giving, more than receiving, so we should think about that aspect also.

Let's hear about what YOU gave, it doesnt have to be materialistic either....

I know there are plenty of genuine souls on here.

It may be awkward to answer this question as well, many givers do not like tooting their own horn....but that is not why I am asking, it just genuinely makes the heart feel good to hear such charitable stories!!!!

So.....

What did you give?

EDIT:

I wanted to share this article with the kind folks who are reading this thread. It seems #26acts has taken storm, and I am going to be the next to participate. It all started with a tweet, what if we did 26 kind things, as a way to make up for the evil done in sandy hook? [link to www.facebook.com]

Its a great idea!

Got the wife perfume, various baking stuff she wanted, got the kid a new TV, clothes, and cash in a new wallet. Got mom socks (inside joke) a necklace and and Amazon gift card. Got dad a Lego tank, sweet ass slippers, and some mags and ammo for his new gun.

To the friends kids, various toys. And did the full Christmas for my 3 nieces and 1 nephew who are wonderful children ages 15-3 blessed with a worthless crack whore of a mother. I wish the state would give those kids to us, but the wife and I did what we could for now.

All in all it was a fabulous Christmas. I even had the time to talk with Jesus for a while.

Merry Christmas GLP! Bless you all. (Even the trolls)

Bought my 15yr old sis a bathrobe and a Justin beiber perfume set with lotion and some other crap, and parents a Kuerig B40 Elite coffee maker with 48 extra Coffee K-Cups and so far I am extremely happy because the entire family asked me to make coffee tonight after the meal and it seems to be a hit.

Feels good giving, really does.

I gave my mother two gowns, shoes, and a writing pen.

I gave my husband clothes and shoes.

I gave my son money and a box with tools in it.

I gave my daughter-in-law money and a box with jewelry in it.

I should say, my husband and I gave...

We gave his mother money.
