Dude I grew up in the Netherlands in the 80's living in a CITY and had the exact same story like yours. Hell I could walk into a strangers house and start playing there as a 5 year old. There's virtually no private gun ownership in the Netherlands. (And yes we too have had our incidents but not in those days) Maybe people changed? Or you just have so many guns or idiots around that it's a different scenario? Ask yourself, why are our stories the same but in my case there's no guns included? |

Obviously, availability made it possible for a convicted felon to get one. For the love of humanity - let's get rid of these things once and for all. for the same reason we are allowed to own matches, kitchen knives, cars that go more than 55 mph, baseball bats, shotguns, hunting rifles, hammers, screwdrivers, motorcycles, swimming pools, etc and because there are 1,000,000 other AR-15 type rifles in circulation that don't have screwball owners. and 200,000,000 people eligible to own one who aren't whacko. that is good enough reason. if that isn't good enough reason, it's because we use them to protect ourselves, even if we don't actually have to use them. simply having them legal is a deterrent to crime that goes unreported in the newspapers every day. we have the right to own them and use them. |

Sounds like my county, in the past two months I've seen two charity fundraisers raffling off long guns. Last month 30 guns were given away for the support of the families of two state policemen that were murdered. This month, over $7,000 was raised to send a young woman on a missions trip. Her church raffled off 21 long guns and 5 $200 cash prizes. They were all hunting rifles but now I wish some assault rifles were in the mix. Everyone has guns, is there crime, yes. I'm certain there would be more crime without the guns in the hands of the law abiding. |

For the love of humanity let's allow the citizens to keep their guns, even if it means 1000 children a year are killed by lunatics, because as long as the citizens are armed, humanity won't have to endure another genocide like those of the last century that killed millions of children and hundreds of millions of mothers and fathers. |

Quoting: FatalW1shes But then we blame the gun that shot the firemen. So a man burned down the house, but a Bushmaster AR-15 shot the fireman. Somehow I think the man burned down the house and shot the firemen but Your political views won't be convinced of that. I actually find that fascinating. A man used matches and gasoline to burn the house down, and we blame the man A man used a Bushmaster AR-15 to shoot firemen and we blame the Bushmaster AR-15. Simply fucking amazing how some minds work. EPIC POST is EPIC. OP is OWNED. Thank you FatalWishes for the brilliant response. The shooter was a criminal. Tried and convicted of MURDER and then released when he didn't even want to be. The shooter illegally possessed weapons which is in itself illegal in a state where some of the most strict gun laws exist. Did those gun laws stop the criminal from getting guns and committing murder? No. The ONLY thing that gun laws do is restrict the ability of the law abiding citizen to obtain protection for themselves and their loved ones and make it safer for the criminal to commit his violence over them. It's like making a giant, gun free zone, and giving a murderer the license to kill every innocent they can. Not owned. if these guns weren't available to the public, the shooter would not have been able to get one - at least not easily. THAT's my only point. Nothing more. He would have gotten a different gun and done the same thing. Guns aren't the issue. Sick fucks with no respect for life are the issue. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30851267 America once had a law against drinking and there was no booze to be had,not even criminals had any booze. Ban guns and it will be the same. Sarc/ No, there was booze everywhere and criminals made bank bootlegging it. There were speakeasys all over the place and liquor was readily available. That's why the law was finally repealed----the feds just gave up trying to enforce it. "Who decides?" ---Robert A.
