OK lets get real here. Nobody has actually laughed at the Big Bang Theory on TV right? | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 3960495 United States 12/26/2012 09:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OH God dont get me started! Endless relationship analysis can be so funny for 20 seasons! But what made me feel really in tune with those guy was that they sorta called a coffee shop there home away from home. What hip 20 something doesn't dream of being a regular at the coffee shop? Cmon guys, we are getting to be young adults in our 20's, we can handle some really string forms of coffee, right?? And we can tell jokes about dating while we drink our adult drinks too! TEee heee, ha ha. OOOOOH!!!! NOW I get it!!! You, all of, what? 19? 20? and maybe a high school drop out, don't have a life, and cannot figure out what the comedy on this show is all about! A bunch of super-smart college degreed professors who don't really have much of a life, but laugh at the rest of the world for their "regularness," none of which any of them possesses or understands. If the show is over your head, go watch Family Guy, 2 1/2 men or some other reprobate thing....there's plenty of TRASH on TV these days. The "comedy" of this show is the "Nerds trying to fit into regular world" vision, sorta Jr. High/High school-did-not- fit-in types trying to get along in the world, and are realizing they are "different" than regular guys, and what are they missing, all the while not wanting to give up their nerdy, weird, Star Wars/Star Trek, comic books, nerd toys etc. Geez, dude, if you're too stupid to understand the show, JUST DON'T WATCH IT. Another "The humor is too intelligent for you to understand" person. Ok please, decode some of these brilliant jokes for me that the layman wouldn't understand. Cmon just give one example Mr Smartypants... |

One of you idiots on this board must have a 6 degrees of seperation thing going with these two writers. I need them or their bosses to know just how much they suck. Ill even disgrace them at their own trade - comedy script writing. I dare these "pros" to step up and meet my challenge! Or are they too busy thinking of the next funny thing for Sheldon to say on their show. Ill give you one line for free... Sheldon walks into a party and appears nervous. Then, all of the sudden he lifts his arms and says "im here to raise the roof". HAHAHA - just watch out, the audience might not recover from that joke and miss all the other brilliance going on in the show! |

But the script is really atrocious and not very salvageable on BBT. Nah he would bust out some world class ad-lib. Also Rhea Pearlman would stomp the producer's ass if he interfered. |

And the Tumblr teen girl obsession for Charlie day makes me want to just jump in front of a car. I'm out for the night, I'll be back tomorrows to debate that Shit with you. 1) 'Fatboy' only got slim this season. I will agree that last season was awful. This season is hilarious. 'Pop-Pop: The Final Solution' was an awesome episode. 2) Futurama is a great show. I'm really thinking you might just have bad taste. This is true, I was a bit premature with my dates on that show. I suppose it's only been this season. Think about it though, have you been glued to a single episode this season? I find myself walking away from it regularly now. There's only so much that show can do in my opinion, and they've done most of it. I hope they prove me wrong. I've never gotten the fascination with futurama, then again, I can't seem to get into any animated show. It may be missed on me, but I don't understand what is so great about this show in particular. Anonymous Coward User ID: 29911796 United States 12/26/2012 11:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If we are talking about shows that are terrible and people like them for no reason, I have to point out my anger with the show Firefly. It's another one of those shows that geekdom has claimed to be the greatest thing ever, but if you don't happen to like it, you just aren't smart enough, or don't appreciate it. I've seen 2/3 of the singular season, been to the message boards, and tried to actually understand what people saw, and still see in that show. My fiancee tells me I hate on everything she holds dear, so I wanted so badly to like something she liked, but wow. I see that show as an insult to science fiction, fans, to the writers, and basic logic as a whole. How in the Fuck, you can set a show in the future of this timeline, (obviously this one, it draws on things we had when they made it) and not have a singular new invention, a singular new idea. It's literally the year 2000 set in space. The acting was horrid, the plot were insignificant, and the entire idea of the show was cheese, and makes me angry as somewhat who reveres actual talented science fiction writers. I could go on.. I just wanted to express that, as we had began to hate on other things in this thread. We can go back to the big bang piece of Shit now. Sorry op. Haha. |

This show is supposed to represent people from what I regard as my culture. I fucking HATE it. They got the Green Lantern oath wrong, they always get these little details that comic book fanboys like me obsess over wrong and it drives me nuts. I can't figure out if the show is laughing at people like me, is aimed at people like me or is just an attempt to cash in on the current trend of geek culture being "cool" but it fails on all fronts. I'm not being a hipster when I say I was into all that stuff long before it became cool (truth, quiz my ass about Batman and I'll take you to school, forget the movies too). This show annoys the crap out of me, I never found it funny. Last Edited by Lucky Charms on 12/26/2012 12:04 PM 'Magically Delicious' |

I just can't get into shows like Sons of Anarchy or Breaking Bad. I like Futurama, American Dad, and South Park. I was 14 when South Park came out, and I think it's nostalgia that keeps me coming back. Same with Futurama, actually, though I was a bit older when it premiered. To respond to your view of the format, that follows EVERY SINGLE FORMAT OF EVERY SHOW, EVER. Something happens, the protagonist responds (usually in the 'wrong way' so as to give the episode a story-line), there is a conclusion. There are some stories that benefit from an animated setting, and anime has made the cartoon genre acceptable with this premise. CGI was created to solve the issues that live-action movies have in suspending realism. Guillermo del Toro is a master at this, and is an example of what animation can do in the right hands. OMG you are so totes a GLPHipster. |

No one can prove you wrong because you've already established you not only dislike the show, you veritably loath it, and can't fathom why anyone else would like it. That means any evidence to support your theory, regardless of how absurd it is, will be embraced, and any evidence submitted that is contrary to your position will be disregarded as irrelevant. Confirmation bias at it's best. I happen to find the show hilarious. The interactions between characters and the jokes predicated on scientific principals are spot on. Also watching as these individuals struggle with day to day tasks do to their own social glitches, (if you will) are guffaw inducing imho. I know, they aren't for you, but to each his or her own. |
