AC (OP) User ID: 47315 United States 02/09/2006 12:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yea... I would switch to vegatarian... however I love fish too much. I'm kinda worried about eating a can of tuna everyday because of mercury. I haven't eaten any red mean (pork / steak / ham / ) in over 5 years or so. I just can't get rid of the fish. I eat chicken too so that it makes it easier when I go out. But maybe with this diet I can cut that out too. |
some meathead User ID: 71433 United States 02/09/2006 12:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | you should eat 5 meals a day, with your meal plan, it would look like this... meal 1 - 1 1/2 cans of tuna, that sauce and brown rice meal 2 - 1 1/2 cans of tuna, sauce and more brown rice meal 3 - 1 can of tuna, and brown rice meal 4 - 2 cans of tuna meal 5 - salad and 1 can of tuna split meals evenly, taper carbohydrates down towards bedtime and please switch over to a slower burning carbohydrate. your white rice makes me sick looking at it. this diet will raise your metabolism and accelerate weight loss, AS LONG AS YOU ARE EXERCISING. otherwise, good luck losing any sort of fat. period. |

Dean -- Iowa User ID: 71434 United States 02/09/2006 12:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My thoughts are that you should add a bunch of fat to the diet. Cook the rice with a bunch of butter. Low fat is pretty bad for your health, and low fat is what makes most people fat. Fat you eat NEVER becomes fat on/in the body -- any excess fat intake gets eliminated. Only carbs and some proteins are converted to fat and stored in the body. (Our ancient ancestors ate mostly meat and fruits. If they had to eat veggies, it was a time of famine. That's why the body converts carbs into stored fat -- it thinks there's a famine so goes into emergency mode.) Also, saturated fat is the ONLY trigger that stops people from thinking about food. Try it. If you have enough fat in your diet, you literally don't think about eating snacks (I tried it and lost 40 pounds without trying -- I'm 6' tall and now weigh 160). |
some meathead User ID: 71433 United States 02/09/2006 01:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | death by tuna? you can always substitute protein sources. it's just a guideline, not a religious doctrine. this is the best dietary advice coming from a competing bodybuilder. monotony is my best friend, so i forget that not everybody eats the same way i do. |

AC (OP) User ID: 47315 United States 02/09/2006 01:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yea I picked up some brown rice. I've made it a couple of times.... but man... 50 minutes as opposed to white.. I burned through the bag of white rice and I bought a bag of "converted" rice. It's kinda in between for nutrition. But yea... I should probably just bite the bullet and switch to brown rice only. Eating only 2 times a day does make me wonder about weight loss. It makes sense that it would be harder to loose weight that way. I need to figure something out and I think breakfast is going to be a part of that solution. |

Buffalo, ostrich , beef, fish, chicken are some good sources of protein. also get some whey protein and eat two shakes a day + 3 to 4 small to medium size meals. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 47315 United States 02/09/2006 01:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Heh... so much insanity here. Guess that's why I always check this place out. Heh... thanks for the tips all. =) Gonna do more of the brown rice... and I want to aswell figure out how to make sai-tan (mock duck) or Tofu to add to this. The Pasta thing... while cheap... I find it doesn't do so well maintaining or losing weight. Pasta makes me go up very fast. Not sure why rice is different. It feels like the rice is fully processed pretty quickly in the body... with not much left to store. If you can keep yourself suffering just a little for a bit till it's time for your next meal... it doesn't really feel like your body is putting on pounds. I'll check Tuno out too... from what I've seen so far though... it's gonna add a few dollars to every meal. I'm not exactly poor but I like to splurge on things that don't get eaten. (unless they are smart pills / nootropics) ;) |

andy thomas User ID: 71390 United States 02/09/2006 01:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | to cut down on the tuna intake, add some peanuts (cheap) or cashews (expensive)... you can also get jack mackeral for a buck at fred meyer... that's not a bad 'change-up' from tuna... i fry everything in olive oil (try to keep the heat down so the oil doesn't go bad).... mince up 4 or 5 garlic cloves, and an onion, then some bell pepper, and maybe some jalepeno... fry that up... then put in the tuna and rice... and yes, stir in some sriracha ('rooster') sauce... i certainly never need antibiotics :) as for the mercury content in the fish, yes that is a problem... but it seems like any more there is poison in all types of meat, so we each choose our own... i've had checkers at the supermarket say (when i walk up with 20 cans of tuna)... 'oh that's healthy'... and i say, 'well it has mercury in it but we have to choose our poison... if it were chicken or beef it would be growth hormones...yada'... oh you can make a great fish burrito if you add some beans into that mix, and some cream cheese (heavy) or sour cream (light)... then wrap it into a tortilla... |

munchies User ID: 71444 United States 02/09/2006 01:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Op, I think it's okay to eat rice and tuna for awhile. Mercury.. well..I guess that's better than arsenic in your tapwater like we have here. Your body will tell you when it's had enough tuna. At this point, there's something in it that you crave, and sometimes it's good to listen to those feelings. Could be the rice you need. Try a couple of things if you're interested. Next time you buy white rice, look for Mahatma Jasmine Rice. It's so much better than regular white. I've read that a half teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar added to the cooking water after it boils makes the rice fluffy and light. I've tried it with vinegar... don't know about the fluffy part, but the vinegar changes the flavor - almost has a sourdough bread aroma. Not bad. Lemon juice is very good, less aftertaste than vinegar. Of course, in vegetarian lore, rice and beans form a complete protein and dried beans are cheap. So that's good too. I think I want rice now, with hot Hungarian paprika. I have tuna too.. hmm.. |
