Help- I'm Bipolar
All my life I have had ups and downs. I used mj to deal with it. My spouse is totally against it and says I should stop. I have grown up with it in my life. Now I have been seeing a psychologist, one that say nothing is wrong with me and another who diagnosed my with Bipolar (cyclothymia, bipolar disorder). Now I'm on klonopin & Depakote (divalproex sodium) affects chemicals in the body that may be involved in causing seizures. I just did the MJ cause it relaxed me. Now I take this stuff and it knocks me out. What long term side effects will I suffer after 20 years of doing these medically prescribed meds verses doing the MJ? I guess the MJ isn't help my condition, so I guess I will follow the doc's orders and see how I react. Any suggestions?

Re: Help- I'm Bipolar
Make sure you get liver function tests for the depakote, it's hard on the liver. For cyclothymia ask the doc about Lamictal, it's the only one that helps both ups and downs. Depakote only takes away the ups. Lamictal has less side effects. Depakote and klonopin are a very potent combination, more sedating than most antipsychotics. Klonopin is great for anxiety and it is known to be a mood stabilizer/anti-epilectic drug as well.

Thank you for your answer. I have given up the mj. I had my liver functions tested and going to see the doctor next week.

Doctors do not believe in healing, they are trained to prescribe toxic drugs. The drugs will cause chemical imbalances in your brain, and damage to your internal organs. Not only are the drugs dangerous to take, they are dangerous to withdraw from.

Suggestions: Take up natural therapies for brain health - eg. ensure a high level of nutrition. Brain food is Good Fats - omega3s, coconut oil, vitamin B12, B complex, magnesium. Lots of excellent nutrients in eggs, spiralina, fresh fruit and vegetables. Take a probiotic or fermented foods also.

to AVOID: Sugar, aspartame sugar substitutes, wheat products or processed foods, trans fatty acids in take away foods (these are also high in MSG), cigarettes and alcohol. Eat fresh and watch your moods and health take an amazing leap forwards!

If anxiety is high, or you are irritable, manic or cant sleep properly, take nervines (from a naturopath) such as passionflower, skullcap, hops, zizyphus - which rebuild the nerves, and are calming and sedative.

Invest some money in your health and buy natural nutritious supplements, and exercise and get some sunshine.

Goodluck!

Everyone, and I mean everyone is.

Save for those free of the game altogether.

Maybe 1% are mentally strong.

Everyone follows the herd, and has ups and downs.

Bipolarity is not a mental illness, it is caused by the devil.

You are alternating between consciousness of the terror you live in, and fatigue. You are fading in and out of awareness of the horror of this reality, that it is slowly falling to the darkness.

It is your entity struggling to maintain physic existence, you are under attack.

Do not eat, do not sleep, crucify the flesh, that you may save your soul.

Re: Help- I'm Bipolar
Well its not "normal" human behavior, but since nearly 99% of the population is mentally ill, then it has become normal.

To be normal is to be yourself.

To lead your own life.

To be strong and not to be influenced by those around you. No matter what they say, do, or think.

Are you?

Do you let your "friends" influence the way you live?

Or do you think only the TV brainwashes you?

Exactly.

Too afraid to walk alone so you blame the TV or "crazy" people, when you are just as much part of the problem as anything else.

Until you wake up, you will never help anyone, esp yourself.

And to wake up, you have to be honest with yourself.

That means to man up.

Good luck kid.

One of those "psychologists" are not a psychologist but is a psychiatrist.

Psychologists rarely have an MD after their name, thus few psychologists can prescribe drugs. Psychiatrists have MDs and dispense mental health pills like these are candy.

While I can see MJ helping with the mania, it is only going to complicate the depression side of things.

I would suggest you talk to the proscribing doctor and find out what they really are, and then ask them to ween you off of the chemicals.

I would then go to the psychologist, who should be using therapy and not drugs (1 hour sessions of talking) to get helpful tools to deal with and cope with your ups and downs.

Understand no one can cure you. The best you can do is manage the condition.

While MJ may seem to be 'helping' the reality is that is most likely messing other areas of your life up for you.

There are a few sites that suggest that Mj can worsen Bi-polarism: [link to www.google.com]

Since you have been on drugs of all sorts, it may be a longer road toward reaching a balance, but you most likely can reach balance using alternative methods such as meditation and other tools that a therapist can give you.

Try Magnesium Taurate, both elements are usually severly lacking in bipolar people, you might find it really stabilizes you. Its a safe and very positive supplement either way, and has other positives.

Detox from the med.s and try a more natural approach. After you've ruled out demon posession (very common these days), try the following.

1) Exercise
2) vitamin b6
3) fish oils (essential fatty acids)
4) zinc
5) manganese

I'd also add some magnesium since it has a calming effect and helps damaged neurons.

Re: Help- I'm Bipolar
Let me give you one important suggestion: don't take medical advice from people on the internet.

When I was younger I used to suffer from severe panic disorder and was on prescription drugs. I foolishly listened to people on the internet and withdrew from it and started taking herbs and vitamins. For a while everything was alright, but then several months later I went through HELL.

I'm back to normal with prescription drugs. Sure, I don't like taking them, but as my doctor says if I had diabetes I would be taking drugs too.
