Your idea is the natural and logical reaction, especially when one reaches a level of understanding usually coined as enlightenment. Unfortunately what I have found is that the Beast simply continues to thrive on others..do you think the majority of society is enlightened? Nah.

Two good stories to look at are the ones involving the Hydra, the one with Hercules and the one with Jason.

Hercules used two special things that he normally didn't have to do. He used a sickle instead of sword in order to chop all the heads at once since they just grow back as 2 if you go one at a time, and he covered his face so as not to get infected by the poison himself.

In the case of Jason it was the Golden Fleece that allowed him to win. What is a Golden Fleece if you really think about it. Is it just sheep wool that is golden...that doesn't really make sense by itself, but if you think of it at the level of Sheep becoming Lions with its Golden Mane etc...well then you get the idea.
