Every other western country has strict gun bans, and in those countries gun homicides are nowhere near the level they are in the US. It is true that guns will always be obtainable through illegal avenues (And this is why pistols should remain legal as a means of self defense). However, banning most guns keeps many would-be shooters (those with no criminal history and no knowledge of how to obtain an illegal gun) teetering on the fence away from them. There seems to be a correlation betwern gun bans and low gun-related homicides. A crazy person is somebody who does the same thing over and over expecting different results. Throwing guns at gun violence ain't gonna solve it. |
