Fawaz Gerges and Nora Colton. Unfortunately, they are incredibly liberal and he does have a biased view of government intervention. I think it was an awesome article, and maybe knowing how liberal his family is and how unbiased I find this article I have a bit of a slanted view. |

| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 28604765 12/26/2012 11:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I admit that I thought the article WOULD be about 'gun control', but it's not. It's taking a frank look at how the media focuses SOLELY on suburban gun violence, while completely ignoring the thousands that are killed in urban areas. I thought this would be right up GLP's alley. Why is it that we can't discuss the victims of gun violence without turning it into a gun control argument? Why can't we focus on the victims rather than the shooters? |

We need ''crazy people, spoiled rotten misfit kids who are raised by violent tv by absentee parents who answer any frustration with violence" control, not gun control. Example: in lower Michigan (not our beautifull U.P.) the worst school massacre IN U.S. HISTORY took place by a spoiled deranged man in 1927. Fourty five people, mostly children. He did it without a gun, using dynamite. A sick mind armed with violence and hatred and a sense of liberal entitalment will kill, and will do so with or without guns. The murray bld in Colorado was also done without guns. Keep taking God out of the schools and these kids grow up with NO checks and balances, no morale compass. |

Ok, this article is not advocating for or against gun control...it's trying to shed the light on the VICTIMS of violence in everyday urban areas. We ignore these stories in the media. THE ARTICLE IS NOT ABOUT GUN CONTROL, IT'S ABOUT THE VICTIMS!!! |

Why can't we focus on the victims rather than the shooters? OK,lets talk about urban violence and its victims! Cleveland Police are investigating an incident in which officers fired 137 bullets at a pair of suspects, killing them. Timothy Russell, 42, and Malissa Williams, 30, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were killed. According to the Cuyahoga County coroner's office, Williams was shot 24 times, and Russell was shot 23 times. Police reported that no gun was found in the suspects' car. East Cleveland Police detective Scott Gardner told WEWS that preliminary investigation revealed no evidence that the suspects had exchanged fire with police. This is not about "gun control" since law enforcement is exempt. It happened in an "urban" area, and we have innocent victims. But this does not fit the agenda, does it! |
