Thats close enough. Close enough to maybe nail a satelite and tug a little on the gravity and maybe get pulled in. Thats big enough that if it hit say a bid city could cause alot of damage. Maybe it will hit your house.

They are simply saying due to uncertainty, the asteroid will pass somewhere between 16,800 and 33,000 miles from the "center of the earth", that being a uniform/common reference measuring point. 22,000 miles is their best guess as to the actual pass distance.

I see by reference 18 miles is depicted , if proof were there and that is rare enough , 18 miles is an estimate shadowed before , however the further you run the more likely you are to get hit , if you see it at all. a near miss is 300 metres , up. it will however consume its own mass in gathered weight without spilling a drop , knock out electricity , devour daylight , captivate an audience of ears , if all but for a fraction of a second. the world will feel clean if it misses , again.
