What would a visitor from another world think about the Sandy Hook shooting?

Perhaps the visitor might observe:

Man kills children with specific brand of rifle.

Millions run out to buy the same brand of rifle.

And conclude: millions of people want to kill children with rifle.

Or let's say a psychic from another time saw four headlines that read:

Man Murders Children at School
AR-15 Murder Weapon in Child Slaying
AR-15 Semi-Automatic Rifle Sales Skyrocket
Orders for AR-15 Semi-Automatic Rifle Backlogged for Years

What would that psychic think?

That we were a culture that valued the murder of children?

I say this not as a gun control advocate; I own three myself. I say it just to ask people to see this from a different perspect--the perspective of others around the world.

Or think of it this way: We have a horrible massacre of children, but within ten days the news has switched to holiday shopping and the state of the economy.
