I get that they have the right to sue. That said, the navy knew, and everyone on that ship knew the dangers of radiation. No doubt they measured the levels before, during, and after they went in.

They knew better, and they did the stupid anyway. Whose fault is that really?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29184782

I agree with you. When I read that our military were on their way to Japan, I thought it was ridiculous and dangerous for the USA to send them. The Japanese didn't order them to help.

Besides, to sue because your life is shortened? Who knows that? There's no proof unless you're now dying and it's PROVEN it's from Fukushima, not the x-rays you had at the dentist's office, at the hospital when you broke your arm or leg as a child, or from CT scans.

"The aircraft carrier, which was equipped with advanced radiation detection devices, kept a safe distance from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant."

The plaintiffs claim the government deliberately misled them: “the Japanese government kept representing that there was no danger of radiation contamination to the U.S.S. Reagan … and/or its crew, that ‘everything is under control,’ ‘all is OK, you can trust us,’ and there is ‘no immediate danger’ or threat to human life, all the while lying through their teeth about the reactor meltdowns at FNPP. Those guys should sue the U.S. government too for perpetuating the Lie.

They should sue General Electric, the Ronald Reagan estate, the rat-hole insurance companies, on and on.

While your at it, Sue the Commander, the Captain, the Executive Officer, the Chief Officer etc...etc...

These are "ALLEGED" professionals who should be trained and perfectly capable of identifying threats, misinformation, immoral, and illegal orders.

Even a Moran like myself could see from the News Broadcasts that when those power plants exploded this was THE most extreme Nuclear Disaster EVER.

We don't have any scientists or engineers in the military who can calculate the likely consequences of what was observed, to see the risks?

I hope that our military has not been that dumbed down, but now with the all-volunteer force and stupid missions no intelligent person would want, maybe we don't have competent technical officers any more.

Brown’s Gas Neutralizes Radioactive Waste to Help Undo Nuclear Accidents

[link to thelibertygang.com]

Watch Mark Porringa, former Chief Engineer at Chalk River, world’s largest nuclear research reactor, as he neutralizes Nuclear Waste.

Note that after the radiation reduction starts, Mark removes the Brown’s Gas flame and the radioactive waste continues to burn itself up… On the Geiger Counter notice the sensitivity setting after the burn is made at a more sensitive level than when you see during the first radiation reading.

I think everyone in the entire United States should join a class action suit against them and anyone who anything to do with those reactors.

And it's still leaking bad!

And the Japanese are burning contaminated waste to get rid of it but whats its doing is further polluting the whole world.

Then BOTH the US AND Japan should sue General Electric for reporting it was "safe" to construct a Nuclear Reactor literally almost on top of an active fault line and then designing (with NO thought to how and where to transport, dispose of and/or store the radioactive waste other than (mainly) on the roofs of the buildings) and for constructing the reactors in a highly seismically active location. GE KNEW it was not safe, that's already been proven.

Then the US should test ALL of the GE reactors they built here at home, close to fault lines, rivers and aquifers all over our country. Again, with with little or NO thought to how and where to transport, dispose of and/or store the radioactive waste other than on the roofs of the buildings.

Radiation from the Chernobyl accident in 1986 can be found in both human breast milk and our dairy cows milk still. Let's get the lawyers working on suing the Russians, too. And just to be fair, I think the courts should be hearing from the people from Bikini Atoll in the Pacific where we did all the nuclear weapon testing between 1946 to 1958, and then returning the local residents there in the 70's where they were removed again because of radiation poisoning.

Did you ever see where the "World Court" courtroom is? It's a little room with folding chairs in the UN building. The sessions are held in secret and not open to the public.

So if you hire me to come to your house to do some wiring and I screw up and your house burns down, it's YOUR fault? That means contractors can drop all their insurances! You should let them know.

GE plants are failing all around our country. from coast to coast and all in between. You'll find the info with just a little bit of basic searching. Look at all the plants they constructed over fault lines here. It's amazing.

I'm NOT saying these people don't have a right to sue. I AM saying the buck will be passed back and forth and these victims will be long passed before anything is resolved.

Kind of *funny* how GE is the largest producer of cancer causing substances while at the same time the largest producer of cancer detection and treatment equipment.

I'm not arguing your point, I'm honestly curious. What kind of "retrofitting" was Japan supposed to be doing? I know they weren't supposed to be storing the spent fuel on-sight. And that's a HUGE issue, and it's it was proven GE dropped the ball on that one also by not planning for the disposal of the radioactive waste in their designing of the facilities.

I do know quite a few Japanese from studying TRADITIONAL Karate from an genuine Japanese Karate master from Japan since the 80's. They have a lot more respect and admiration for our country than most, who do not know them, would think. And just as healthy of a mistrust of their government as any other country.

You're exactly right. I hope you don't take anything I was writing as being sarcastic.

I'm one of those nerds who thinks that the money, time and energy we spend on "dirty" energy could be better spent on doing using the same said resources on developing "clean" energy. With No loss of jobs. Maybe even (hopefully) create more (a solar panel production plant just opened here and I know three people who have good jobs now because of it. Plus, they're being taught new trades). The only ones who would feel the pinch would be the few in power (no pun) at the top.

I just know some Japanese people and you can't lay the blame on all of them. They're angry too.
