I would like to be considered for this GLP gift because 2012 was a disaster for me.

I had been developing a company for 10 years when late 2011 my partner cut me out totally. We worked in trust ( stupid )
As soon as i taught him part of a successful system i built for the company he started to cut me out. Only in hignsight i found out he was badmouthing me and telling lies so to push me out.

Anyway starting 2012 i was out. I tried to start another business with other partners but it didn't get off the ground.

I made 3500 in 2012. Since the new business failed i have been trying to get any kind of job i can. For some weird reason i haven't been able to get. Not usual, but its been constant stress all the way to the end of the year. I have a young kid.

I think that a few of us have been reading and posting as anonymous, and signed up for an account yesterday to enter the "contest". For myself, I used anonymous because I don't like being tracked on the internet, and I'm sure that you can all understand that. Probably silly since IP addresses can be tracked anyway. tounge
But anyway, try not to hold that against this poster. Just sayin...

Indy. That's called life my friend and you deserve no reward for failure. I've been in the same boat as you but you don't see me begging. You're pathetic! Pick yourself up and keep trying. This is for people who are destitute. You're just a loser!
 Quoting: John Donson 28607946

Maybe you didn't notice, but I am not asking for anything. I posted on Trinity's thread one time. That was it. I voted for Parrot and then when these new posts came up I nominated others that I had seen.
Your mean spirited response to my post defending the people who may have recently registered is the VERY REASON that many people lurk on here anonymously.
Thankfully, I have been reading posts by very kind hearted people and have realized that GLP is not totally full of angry people.
BTW Name calling is childish.

My story is pretty shitty, but I am functioning and I am sure there are people on here who really aren't. As long as my kids are fed, I am okay and they are. I just wanted to say how awesome I think this is. hfhfhf

ditto hf

i think almost everyone is desperate for some financial help these days, as am i. truth is the cost of living has dramatically risen, and sadly, my income has not. i have had to tighten the belt so much that every "extra" i'm used to having had to be done away with. no cell phone, no new clothes/shoes, no dining out, no manicures, no taking my kids to movies, etc. when my husband died, i had to immediately move into a smaller place, and implement a dramatic re-budgeting of our household expenses.

isn't easy. but, i am getting the hang of it. the hard part is not having enough money to go out and do things. so, i sit home and make the best of it. i have to carry internet for school and that basically is my only luxury. and i smoked cigarettes (about three a day) and i even cut that out of the scenario. that and soda pop.

damn you, obama...

anyway...

the point is that it is possible to live on half of what you used to have. and it's possible to adapt to having a minimal meager existence for the time being. it's taken me a couple years to adapt, but i think i am getting the hang of it. i think the boredom is the hardest thing since gas money is so costly and i have to keep my monthly gasoline expense at 40 bucks.

i am not posting this because i am asking for money, as bad as i need it and as tasty as this offer is. i am posting because EVERYONE has had to tighten the belt, and it can be done. and, actually, it's good for us to learn to not waste, buy only what we use and be very frugal, watch our spending as close as possible.

OP, very kind of you to help along with Trin and Brief.
you guys are alright in my book.

may God richly reward your kindness.

I would like to nominate my sister-in-law Carol Gruber. She took care of her own family which consists of 2 aspies (asbergers syndrome) kids and one other, raising them very well so they are functioning tax-paying members of society, and her husband (who is a construction worker). At the same time she gave up her career teaching to nurse her grandmother until her death, then her mother, then her father, who died this past year, leaving debts she felt compelled to pay. Having done that, this Christmas found them broke and found her depressed. Carol takes in stray animals and buys food for homeless people in her neighborhood. She has two bad knees and RA. Something like this might pull her up and reset her down mood. Thanks for considering....

I could use it for Oxygen therapy for my autistic son. This would pay for 10 sessions which is what they said is needed to start to see some improvement. He has major speech delays and stomach issues. Many autistic kids have the same issues. Even if I don't win will all believers in Jesus please keep him in prayer? He is 7 years old and his name is Zeb. Thank you.

Can't seem to locate it. Don't remember if it was on Trinitys or Briefs thread.

"About 1/2 way down. There's of course more to it, just was trying to be short. Just absolutely have no money at all right now. Living off of help from my church at this moment. My parents have both passed away with in the last 5 years from cancer. I was their caretaker. My heat has been broken ever since.
Things have been harrowing with my brother's health and mine. He is having open heart surgery in 2 weeks now. That hospital is 60 miles away. That is far when gas is expensive. We rarely have 12 a tank even. Things are not right. I just hate to go on. I understand if I don't get any help, but I would like to know I was at least considered. If anyone doubts my story, believe me, I have ample proof.
Whatever happens, my heart is truly warmed by the generosity of the wonderful family here on GLP. I consider it a blessing to know you all!

If you would nominate me I would put the money to good use. Money is very tight these days, and I have to save up for a long long time to save up for anything. My boys both could use a pair of shoes, and my oldest son lost his luggage, which had all his clothing in it. I would go thrift shopping and buy what we need, I would put food in the house, since we have been living off ramen, rice and beans for the whole month. I am on a fixed income, and it is very tight. I don't qualify for stamps because I earn what I can on ebay, but business is slow. Me and my boys could use it for sure. We didn't put up a Christmas tree this year, and I got them a present each in November. That was Christmas around here. We ate leftover beans on Christmas today, and today we are eating rice again.
 Quoting: skyblau

I don't usually do this kind of thing, because I try to take care of my own as far as it depends upon me. My youngest son has muscular dystrophy, and my middle child he is pretty ok healthwise. They lost their real dad five years ago, and I have sworn to do the best I can taking care of them. Even if I didn't get a full 333.00 that is fine with me. I would be happy if I could just take them to get a pair of shoes and buy my middle son a happy meal for his birthday.

I posted the following on page 17 of the original thread: _________________________________________________________

My son (6yo)and I live at about 400 feet up, near the bottom of a small mountain. His school is across the valley, near the top of another very large hill.

If there is snow or even frost, we are stuck on this hill. Tight curves, big drop-offs. The road to school is a fairly steep, winding road.

MY CHRISTMAS WISH....studded snow tires for our old Chevy Cavalier.

I will give the next three gifts of $333.33. I have sent an email to Trinity informing him. I'd like to find out from Trinity and Brief who has been chosen so we don't duplicate.

I am not doing this for any reason other than I feel compelled to do so and there are more than 6 people who are in need...I sincerely want to help. Please accept this for what it is.

Very cool of you. I have had a very bad year myself. I think there are more deserving people other than me. I still have a roof and have a little food. I lost my job 6 months ago and have not been able to find another one. I do force myself to do x amount of applications and call backs each week. I spent Christmas alone for the first time in 43 years, I got one present and not one friend called or messaged me until about 4 p.m. I could use the $ to pay my electric bill so I am not shut off in Jan.. I have burned through what I had saved and am in a bit of trouble financially. If I was to win I would use half to pay my electric and donate the rest to Red Cross. Or I would go to a food bank and pick someone at random and take them shopping for food. I have it bad... but there are others who have it worse.

Erm .... Mine is a bit frivolous, but I thought I post it again. It's no biggie, really, it's just that having not been able to see my husband in 2 and half years, I really want the few weeks we'll have together to be special. It's only the 2nd of 5 anniversaries we have spent together and we only got to live together 11 months as a married couple before they shipped him back home to the Netherlands. On a technicality, mind you. I sent a short form BC instead of a long form even though there is *nothing* in the documentation that says there is more than one kind of a BC. All they had to do is ask and we would have sent it right away, but after pulling out the offending document, our perfect stack of documents was "incomplete" and (and I quote), "...sending incomplete evidence to USCIS constitutes a request for immediate decision and, since the documentation required is missing from your application, your request is denied."

Jerks. They kept all of our filing fee money, though.

Anywho... here's my silly post from the first thread. I feel as embarrassed posting this now as I did then, but here it is:

Oh jeebus... I'm embarrassed to ask...but...

My husband is flying in from the Netherlands on Jan 12th and will be here till Feb 9th. We haven't seen each other in 2.5 years. We will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary on February 1st. It's only the second anniversary we have ever spent together.

Gosh...this is such a long story. Shorter is better. Basically, legal immigration isn't going to work for us. I have to make at least 30k a year to sponsor him and disability just doesn't cover that sort of thing. We're working on getting me moved there, but the process is long thanks to this global financial disaster. He has finally landed a job which meets the requirements for Dutch sponsorship of an alien relative. I think a divine source had a hand in that because people simply aren't hiring 46 year old workers when they can get one fresh out of college for less than what they pay my husband and for a hell of a lot longer mileage. So we were lucky. It isn't a high paying job, but it is enough and we are happy with that.

I would just like to be able to afford to show him the Texas State capitol, have a nice anniversary dinner, maybe stay overnight in a hotel w/cable TV and room service :) I don't know. I'm just happy he has a job with annual vacation time so we can see each other at least once a year now. We're saving our pennies and saying our prayers. We aren't the only married couple in the world who is having "legal" immigration problems. It's just so hard to be parted. I don't even own a couch or another chair for him to sit on when he gets here :/ But he'll be here and we'll make do :)

Merry Christmas, Trin and Mo! Love is the greatest thing in the world.
 Quoting: Éireann

P.S. I just wanted to add that I am trying to get off of disability and back to work. Since I did research as my career before I became disabled, I decided to start a business where I can do this from home since I'm kind of stuck here without a driver and what not. I am very hopeful that this year will bring me many clients and it is a job that I can do from anywhere in the world so long as I have a computer and an internet connection. I'm really excited about my business. I think technology simply rocks!

We have 5 little kids. We were self employed, but our business failed. So, we went 17 months with no unemployment or job. Now have a job, but told it is likely to end after Winter. Have thousands of dollars of medical bills due to my wife's broken wrist, son's orthodontist and daughter needs eye treatments. None is covered by insurance. Dishwasher broke and tires on 94 car are bald. We also have a 10 foot crack in the basement that we have ignored for years. Apparently, this is a foundation problem which gets worse every time it rains and water pools in the house. But we do have a house and that is more than many people. Thank you for your consideration.

I hate people who beg and blame their situation on everybody but themselves. Christmas time or not! I've lost it all but I have too much character and fortitude to ask for a hand out, which is what she's doing. This would be no hand up if she were to get the cash money!

John, calm down and read what you are posting on. I was not asking for the money! I Posted on Trinity's page yesterday ONE TIME. Then today I voted for someone, and on the new pages springing up I have been nominating other people and offering words of encouragement. And even if I was asking for money...so what? I think that is what these threads are for...

Your mean spirited attitude is exactly why so many people lurk as anonymous. I was simply defending the guy for starting a new account yesterday. Many people are afraid to post on here because of people like you who just like to put people down and call names.

Fortunately, so many kind people have been posting today that I am not going to let your angry posts scare me away from GLP. Peace. hearts

LOL! No worries! God provides! I am going to college at this ripe old age because I am sick of working minumum wage jobs. I have managed to pull 4.0 so far because I know that I will need that to compete with younger people for a job in my new field. While I still dig around under seat cushions for quarters at times, I am still happy because I have a PLAN for a brighter future. ~Cheers!~ And best wishes for the New Year!
cheers

Re: Let's do 3 more $333.33 Christmas gifts-please tell me your story or nominate others as I have not kept track of everyone
Right i will start mine from the beginning ,in 2002 my wife passed away ,leaving me with 6 children too raise ,i didnt whinge or whine or claim benefits ,3 of my children are disabled ,badly, i tried really tried but ended up after 3 years with a nervous breakdown as my youngest daughter had microphthalmia so didn't know wether it was morning or night and i stayed up every night with her ,i didn't mind staying up because she used to scream all the way thru' the night and my other children had school the next day, so i stayed awake day and night until my body couldnt handle it any longer ,3 of my children who were disabled had to go into disability care for children with severe disablilities . I visited them often and gave presents every christmas and birthdays even tho i had to hitchhike the 230 miles many times due to lack of money ,my father passed away recently and he was the one who i tried too copy and he had scruples and honesty he was a gentleman ,i am in a low paid job and the only way i could get a black suit and tie for the funeral was too use the mortgage money the suit cost £79 then £10 for shoes and £8 for shirt and tie , it had an effect on me not being able too buy my childrens presents ,due to the charges put on my mortgage ,i am not a benefit scrounger and never have been, the job im in may be low paid but its work ,i receive just less than £1k a month and out of that i paid the mortgage ,the council tax, the electric, the gas, food etc, i need this honestly , this is me and this is embarrassing [link to www.thefreelibrary.com]

Re: Let's do 3 more $333.33 Christmas gifts-please tell me your story or nominate others as I have not kept track of everyone
I wasn't going to give my story but then I thought, what the heck.

These last two months have been exceptionally difficult financially. It always seems to hit during this time of year.

#1 After being out of work and on unemployment for nearly a year, my daughter finally found a temporary job that is supposed to end on January 11. I pray that her position is extended. She needed some much needed car repair in order to get to work every day.

She broke the tie-rods on her vehicle last year after hitting a patch of ice and skidding into a curb. The accident also bent one of her rims making it impossible to drive. She has been depending on others for a ride since last winter since the estimates exceeded over $1500.00 for auto repairs.

After she got this temporary position, I helped her financially with the auto repairs. We were lucky to find a friend who changed the tie rod's but we had to get a new rim and 4 new tires as her old ones had dry rotted after sitting for a year (they were old tires to begin with). Total cost was approx. $500.00 (4 tires and a new battery).

#2 My granddaughter's mother has been in treatment court for a year for possession of meth. My son is an addict and is unable to care for his family (long story). :o(

The mother was finally released from treatment court December 20 and can finally leave this drug infested shit hole where I live and stay with her father in Florida. I bought her (and granddaughter) a ticket that cost approx. $450.00 to get her away from the human trash she used to hang out with. They are leaving on Jan 7. I believe her father will help her get her life straight. If not, I've done all I can to help them over the past 3 years.

#3 Most neighbors in my area are pretty decent and I have no problem for the most part. However, I do have a few that allow their dogs to roam free. I have a couple of dogs as well, and the low life neighbors dogs jump the fence and attempt to rape my female dog. Since the neighbors, like most people in general, have zero capacity to be responsible, I've had to have my fence heightened to keep the strays out of my yard. The fence company charged approx. $1100.00.

#4 The front tires on my car were bald as a baby's butt and were in no shape for driving on snow. I had been putting off purchasing new ones but snow was rolling in and I didn't really have a choice. I got the front tires replaced and will replace the back tires in the summer. Two new tires set me back about $230.00.

It's been a rough couple of months for me as it has been for many others so I thought I would throw this out there. By the way, can someone please explain to me why these things always seem to happen around Christmas. Thank you for your consideration even if I don't receive the $333.33.

I hope 2013 is a much better year for us all. God bless! hf
