I need 333.33, however I don't think ill be able to compete with the "regulars" here. I do believe positive thoughts manifest in the physical, so pleaseeeeeee vote for me to come across a blessing, even if not here somewhere else......

My story is pretty shitty, but I am functioning and I am sure there are people on here who really aren't. As long as my kids are fed, I am okay and they are. I just wanted to say how awesome I think this is.

I believe the top 3 on Trinity's list and whichever 3 that Brief chooses. I have requested that Brief let me know who he chooses so I don't duplicate.

I kind of hate doing this but could use the money too. I posted on Brief's thread, page 7 so make a note of that. We try to live giving to others on a daily basis but to be honest, this economy is killing us. My husband is a disabled vet with a small monthly compensation but works seasonally for the Park Service for six months a year. Budget cuts only allowed them to work four months this year. He just began collecting unemployment three weeks ago and will now lose them next week due to the "fiscal cliff". (Thanks alot government.)I worked for 20 years in social work agencies but not working now, disability and live in rural area. Anyway, we spend much of our time assisting homeless animals and have many rescues in our home. With vet care, food, transportation costs, lousy income always being reduced every month, and outrageous cost of everything, we always seem to run short. We get by, but it would be a nice help right now. I'm happy, content, budget like a fiend so maybe I'm not the right candidate for this but hat's in the ring anyway. Great idea though!!

Don't like to beg, but if I get chosen to receive a portion of money I will use it to go into my efforts and time to take this epiphany I had this morning to write a book, free of charge, for GLP'ers about GLP'ers.

I just lost my job Friday for calling someone lazy, who happens to be my friend.

I have a 4 year old daughter who got $20 worth of toys from "Santa" and I've never felt so bad about life until this point. I'm sure this story pails in comparison, but figured Id try.

Right i will start mine from the beginning ,in 2002 my wife passed away ,leaving me with 6 children too raise ,i didnt whinge or whine or claim benefits ,3 of my children are disabled ,badly, i tried really tried but ended up after 3 years with a nervous breakdown as my youngest daughter had microphthalmia so didn't know wether it was morning or night and i stayed up every night with her ,i didn't mind staying up because she used to scream all the way thru' the night and my other children had school the next day, so i stayed awake day and night until my body couldnt handle it any longer ,3 of my children who were disabled had to go into disability care for children with severe disablilities . I visited them often and gave presents every christmas and birthdays even tho i had to hitchhike the 230 miles many times due to lack of money ,my father passed away recently and he was the one who i tried too copy and he had scruples and honesty he was a gentleman ,i am in a low paid job and the only way i could get a black suit and tie for the funeral was too use the mortgage money the suit cost £79 then £10 for shoes and £8 for shirt and tie , it had an effect on me not being able too buy my childrens presents ,due to the charges put on my mortgage ,i am not a benefit scrounger and never have been, the job im in may be low paid but its work ,i receive just less than £1k a month and out of that i paid the mortgage ,the council tax, the electric, the gas, food etc, i need this honestly , this is me and this is embarrassing [link to www.thefreelibrary.com]

Ok Thanks.. But I have been dead broke the last few months just getting by earlier throughout the year.

My local elementary school has to keep a food pantry stocked so that they can fill up backpacks for 48 kids on each Friday afternoon. If it were not for the backpacks of food most of these children would not have anything or very little to eat on the weekends. If you pick me, I would add an extra $100 to your gift and fill the pantry. I try to shop with coupons and sales every week so I can pick up extra for the school pantry. $433.33 sure could go a long way. No matter who you pick, it's really a nice thing your doing! Thanks!

Before I say anything that would create discouragement from this, let me just say that I think this is awesome and reassures me that GLP is a community worth the minutes to sometimes hours in a day I've been coming here lately. I'm not asking for the $333.33 and won't accept it so this is coming from a relatively unbiased perspective.

For those who make the decision or anyone involved in nominating the winner, what criteria do you consider to be worthy of donation?

I mean, if it comes down to who needs it the most, determination relies on sympathy for who can tell the best story that may or may not be verifiable. While I, just like everyone else, could certainly benefit from extra money for bills, it contradicts a mentality that I try not to be one who complains about "first world problems", as cynical as that may sound to the situations others may find themselves to currently be in. I would imagine that to successfully ask for help, one has to find the right words to convey that a handout is needed yet without it, the individual could still be an inspiration to others who have less yet seek to end with more.

On the other hand, not to derail the purpose but perhaps to highlight the intentions here, the money could used in a more practical sense like funding the winners' contributions to the site. I see many people who work hard at sharing\researching knowledge and while it's due to their enthusiasm for the truth, again, money never hurts.

I'm a skeptic at heart (no wonder I'm here lol) in regards to nominating someone I don't personally know. I guess my bottom line here is if you're someone who "wants" the money but doesn't "need" it, a more fulfilling choice would be to opt out in order to shine some light on those who are in more dire circumstances.

Anyway, I just wanted to offer some things that I would consider if I felt comfortable giving my money to strangers who, hypothetically, may be taking money that others deserve more. Again, this is a great idea.

Honestly, I don't have a sob story. I've just been a lazy slacker of sorts trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life while still living at home with the parents.

If I was nominated for the $333.33, I would give it to my parents so they can get something they really wanted with it to let them know how much I appreciate them.

I am a single mom with 2 boys and unemployed right now. I'm in the same boat as many with no job but I am also having an extra bit of problems finding one because I actually raised my children for 17 yrs being a homemaker. Toward the end of our marriage we lost a couple of kids due to death and then next thing you know my ex and I got divorced due to to much stress and pain.

Now I am trying to find work however its not so easy for someone who has a long period of not working outside of the home and I have a lot of skills. I continue to look and hold out hope for someone to hire me but the only two jobs I have had since this happened where both seasonal and temp and right now I could really use some help.

Thank you so very much for your consideration and most of all for caring about people.

Its people like you that make this world a wonderful place, even when there is doom a foot.
