Father beats man to death with bare hands for sexually abusing daughter

The father returned to the house, caught the man in the act, and stopped him by striking him in the head several times, Harmon said.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the daughter was taken to a local hospital in Victoria, Texas, for examinations before being released.

The incident took place Saturday.

Harmon described the girl as "OK besides the obvious mental trauma."

Asked whether they would press charges against the father, the sheriff responded, "You have a right to defend your daughter. He acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."

Harmon described the dad as "very remorseful," adding that he didn't know the man was going to die.

I don't think anyone would REALLY argue with you. What the father did WAS wrong. Even the father of the daughter who was being sexually abused and molested admitted he was remorseful, and didn't at all intend to kill the man.

My question is, regardless of whether or not the father was WRONG.....is can you BLAME him? And ultimately, THAT is what those who might be deciding on a conviction or not would have to debate. Can you BLAME the man for reacting the way he did?




Now, if the father later REALIZED his daughter was molested, by her later words and actions (which led to a conclusion of foul play), and he actually sat down and plotted to murder the molester, then yes, it would be proper to convict him.



The situation was this. Man walks in, sees his FOUR year old daughter being MOLESTED. He immediately runs to the offender, and beats the living hell out of him. Is it that far fetched to think this is a NORMAL reaction?

As for the man dying, I'm sorry to hear that. Partly because we have a justice system for a reason, and partly because death in that moment was too good for him. A bag of mixed emotions, which I'm sure the father of the girl is feeling 100x more than any of us can imagine.




Even if by some reason this poor father gets convicted, more than likely itd be a little manslaughter charge, and he'd probably do at most 3-5 years (that is a WORST case scenario that I think would ever happen). Best case scenario is they just put this behind em, and allow the family to attempt to heal from this crisis.

Trouble is, the actual translation of that biblical verse is "You shall not murder."

Didn't David kill Uriah, who took in bathsheba when she was a "little lamb" and had her in his bed? (2 Samual 12), and didn't God of that book curse David for this?
