The issue with any religious discussion revolves around the inability to understand the physical from the spiritual. And while there is no doubt they both have effects on one another, we must be aware of their position in creating a true understanding.

Just because a person is a follower of YHVH/Yeshua/bible doesn't mean they are exempt from gravity. I use it as an example since we are all subject to it regardless of religion or refusal of one. A Christian or Jew and an atheist fall off a ledge. They hit with equal force and consequence.

Within the teaching of what foods to eat, the same really applies. If you believe in the Creator having made everything, you must also realize that each thing was made with a purpose. And even if a person is secular, the truth remains that the food chain and ecological system is very exact. Certain creatures serve a purpose. These purposes rely on certain biological structures in order to function in the ecosystem.

So whether you are a believer or a non-believer, science demonstrates the accuracy of what Leviticus outlines. The creatures that are not to be eaten are those which have eating habits and biology that yield poisonous flesh. This is great as they are responsible for preventing the spread of disease.

So regardless of religion, like gravity, everyone must be aware of the negative effects of eating unclean food. Does it always show up instantly? No, but there have been multiple studies that show how certain groups that don't eat pig, shellfish, etc. have dramatically lower incidences of illness. And it is proven that unclean foods are the primary source of all the major food related sickness, disease and death. Coincidence?

Nonbelievers should think about the amazing knowledge about this subject in the bible. For believers, pigs didn't change at the resurrection.
